250 billionaires own half of California GDP. Taxing them at 2% would save healthcare for millions. Healthcare workers have already compromised from 5%. 85% of VC money came to California in Q1 2026. The capital flight argument is nonsense. The only reason to oppose this is if you want to protect the donor class. It's about protecting money in politics. I want a Democratic party that will stand for the working class. This is a moral test for our party. Whose side are you on? nytimes.com/2026/06/18/us/… via @NYTimes

We used to have presidents who exhibited character, honesty, integrity, kindness, and empathy. Those are all things that I think all of us long for once again. We were reminded today by Barack Obama that we can have that.

To know Barack and Michelle is to understand: They have always believed that leadership is about leaving something behind that empowers others. Today's opening of the Obama Presidential Center reflects that vision. It will continue to invest in future generations and encourage people to see themselves as part of something bigger. Congratulations, my friends. What a remarkable day.

NEWS: I’m calling on the FAA to reject any pressure to rubberstamp Trump’s “Triumphal Arch.” The safety of the flying public should not be jeopardized for a vanity project designed to stroke the President’s ego.

This Juneteenth, we commemorate the end of slavery in the United States and recommit to the continued pursuit for freedom, resilience, and justice. California can, and must, continue to lead the way towards a more inclusive and equitable future for all. #CALeg #Juneteenth

It was great to celebrate Juneteenth with folks across the valley, including at the fifth annual @AZHistSociety Juneteenth celebration. Today, we celebrate the resilience of the Black community and recognize when the last enslaved African Americans learned of their freedom in 1865. Despite its significance, Juneteenth only recently became a federal holiday. I was proud to support the legislation that made that possible.

Actually @LaraLeaTrump the construction of Obama's library was privately funded by the Obama Foundation. The reckless war your father-in-law got us into, however, has cost taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars in addition to squeezing them dry by sending prices skyrocketing.

Lara Trump on Obama Library: It’s ugly, it's over budget, the taxpayers are footing the bill. When I think about what I would want a legacy of a president to look like, I think about the Trump presidential library.

Juneteenth is a day to commemorate emancipation, to reflect on the hard, often painful truths of our shared history, and to celebrate the progress we've made to ensure freedom, opportunity, and justice exists for all Americans. But progress only continues if we pick up the baton and carry it forward. It requires standing up to those who want to erase some of our darkest — and most important — chapters. It falls on each of us to learn from the past, so we can chart a more just future for our kids and grandkids. So today, as we celebrate Juneteenth, let's recommit to advancing the values that our nation was founded on 250 years ago, right here in our Commonwealth. Because Juneteenth isn’t just Black history — it’s American history. And it’s a reminder that our fight for freedom is ongoing.

In 2021, I joined colleagues in Congress to establish Juneteenth as a federal holiday to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States. As we look back on the history of this day and the Declaration of Independence’s promise that “all men are created equal,” we celebrate freedom and the values that continue to unite us as Americans.

This Juneteenth, we honor the resilience of those who endured slavery and continue our work to create a more perfect union. Our fight for justice continues as Donald Trump and Republicans continually seek to erase Black political representation in our country.
Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus@CAPAC

Over 160 years after emancipation on Juneteenth, Trump and Congressional Republicans are doing everything in their power to rip away the freedoms that Black Americans have fought and died to preserve. We will never give up the fight for a more perfect union.

Juneteenth is both a celebration of freedom and a reminder that freedom must be protected, expanded, and made real in every generation. My father wrote, “Oppressed people cannot remain oppressed forever.” Today, we honor the ancestors who endured, resisted, and hoped. And we recommit ourselves to the ongoing work of justice, dignity, and creating the Beloved Community. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #MLK #BelovedCommunity #Nonviolence365

Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani
On June 19, 1865, African American communities in Galveston, Texas, finally learned of their freedom from slavery — two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation took effect. For 161 years, Juneteenth has been a day of remembrance for the freedom that was delayed. It is also a celebration of the joy and resilience that flourished despite that delay. The contributions of African Americans, whose struggle for freedom shaped our nation, are immeasurable. Yet too many Black families continue to bear the brunt of an affordability crisis that has pushed them out of the neighborhoods and communities they've built. True freedom has a tangible impact on daily life: the ability to afford housing, earn a living wage, put food on the table, support a family, and create a future for generations to come. As we celebrate today, we must recommit ourselves to ensuring this freedom is fully realized. Happy Juneteenth, New York City.
