Anyone who has taken high-dose aspirin with-and-without vitamin K knows something is going on there — as vitamin K significantly reduces/prevents bruising and excess bleeding. Aspirin is metabolized to salicylate—salicylate interferes with vitamin-K-dependent coagulation factors—this is limited by taking vitamin K. This is what Ray Peat was talking about when suggesting that vitamin K should be taken with aspirin. That’s why emergency doctors use vitamin K to correct salicylate-induced coagulation problems. Coagulation is a key part of the clotting process.
