>Be Patrick Henry >born 1736 Virginia backcountry >no college, minimal formal schooling >self-taught lawyer grinding borrowed law books >brutal early life: store bankrupt, farm failed, tavern failed >married at 18 to Sarah Shelton >first wife suffered severe mental illness after children, died young >remarried Dorothea Dandridge >total ~16 children >1763 Parson's Cause trial, argues successfully against British law >wins big victory for local taxpayers >becomes overnight hero to ordinary Virginians >1765 House of Burgesses >Stamp Act speech >Caesar had his Brutus, Charles the First his Cromwell >George the Third may profit by their example (meaning tyrants who abuse power get assassinated or executed by their own subjects) >speaker screams TREASON >Henry replies if this be treason make the most of it >chamber erupts >instant revolutionary legend >1775 St. John's Church Richmond >delivers Give me liberty or give me death speech against British rule. A note to our groyper friends: People who promote Marxist policies should state their intention plainly so we can know if they are subversive or just stupid. The latter is forgivable I suppose. The former is not. If the goal is to get the less fortunate to share in some of the prosperity of those above them, then you’d never propose Marxist policies. If you just “want Marxism” then say that.

@ChrisPappasNH Anyone with a basic understanding of economics correctly predicted how the “affordable” care act would play out. They were right. ACA proponents were wrong. Have ACA proponents apologized? Have they acknowledged they were wrong? Do they understand why they were wrong?

The ACA was signed into law 16 years ago today, bringing health care coverage to millions of Americans. But now, 22 million Americans are struggling to afford health insurance because Donald Trump and Senate Republicans refused to extend the ACA tax credits, which could drive families into crippling debt. I won’t stand for these attacks because every American deserves access to high-quality, affordable health care.

Where do they even come up with these ridiculous nonsense lines? Under communism, your boss is the state. Yes, you have to obey the state or starve. Yes, you have to do hard, physical labor, or starve. What fantasy land are these people living in?

@CoreyWriting This is the gender ideology equivalent on the right. Just deeply unserious, like children almost.

This is flatly absurd. They are objectively low IQ. In order to believe in Marxism, one must be historically and economically literate as well as morally bankrupt. That said, public schooling is a socialist institution so it makes sense that they’re all socialist.
The Rabbit Hole@TheRabbitHole

American university faculty are more likely to identify as Socialist than Conservative. Marxist faculty trail Conservatives by just a few percentage points.

What’s the Hegseth lore? Besides him evidently being a boozebag. That’s someone I never took interest in. When the media acts in uniform with the far left to take these types of figures down, I tend to support them strictly out contrarianism. I never actually learned much about Pete tho.

@ianbremmer These are not extraordinary to anyone who understands basic economics. They are only extraordinary to commies and leftists who pretend economics doesn’t exist.

Trump wants to keep the US as the global hegemon and keep the world under the petrodollar But a new world order is emerging One that will cede power to several large nations.

Chinese "professor" Jiang says that the United States should willingly forfeit it's role as the #1 global superpower to China and Russia, to which Tucker Carlson agrees and then blames Israel for preventing that from happening. Dude, what happened to Tucker?

@j_fishback >guy who doesn’t wanna pay for things that people in DC do >guy who wants to give teachers and young people money (It’s the same guy) I know the words are big but please at least try to read an economics book lil bro.
James Fishback@j_fishback

Would you rather spend $200 billion to bomb Iran or…? A: give every teacher in America a $62,500 bonus B: provide downpayment assistance for 20 million young families C: build 1,300 rural hospitals

Gas prices are skyrocketing because of the Iran War. I am calling on Governor DeSantis to temporarily suspend the gas tax to save Florida families up to $6 every time they fill up. We shouldn’t have to pay more at the tank because of DC’s disastrous war.

My advice to Vance: Announce your support of 25th amendment transition. Say Chris Murphy or similar will be veep. Announce you will NOT be a candidate in 2028. Use your position, access to the media to explain why this is necessary. Don't resign.
