WINDSOR POLICE NEWS RELEASE Statement on federal firearms buy-back program After careful consideration, the Windsor Police Service has chosen not to participate in the federal Assault-Style Firearms Compensation Program at this time. Participation in the program is voluntary for local police services. After reviewing the program framework, the Service identified concerns related to operational requirements, resource impacts, and feasibility. “This decision allows us to stay focused on our core policing responsibilities while continuing to work with our partners to address violent crime and the illegal use of firearms in our community,” said Chief Jason Crowley.
