@WriterPaulBond I was at University during this time, and this was absolutely the thing everybody was talking about. And many students sat and watched the verdict on campus. I remember people saying, "The Juice is loose" many times.

On this day in 1994, OJ Simpson murdered Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman (allegedly) then got off Scott-free. The slow-speed chase occurred 4 days later and was among the most-watched events in TV history. I was editor of a university newspaper at the time, and students knew more about the OJ case than they did about the US Constitution (we polled them). Sad, but true, and I am sure they know even less about the Constitution today... though are well-versed in flavor-of-the-day pop culture. So, this is a post about how lame education is today. Only about 67 people will see this X post, due to X's awful "algorithms," but I thought it was an important point to note, using a well-known historical event to make my point.

@walterkirn With all due respect, that’s not a fair analogy since many people go to ball games for the experience & watching great plays. To hear the roar of the crowd. It’s a visual and auditory experience. I certainly don’t vote because it’s an entertaining experience.

Imagine if basketball games were played inside locked buildings without windows. The field goals and free throws were registered and counted by machines. The running score of the game was projected on the outside of the building. But it wasn't simultaneous with the game. The running score changed for days and even weeks after the contest was over. When at last there was a final score the fans cheered or slumped in despair.
How long would public interest and faith in such a sport last?

@Elex_Michaelson @spencerpratt All of us know that if the election was actually fair, Spencer would win by a mile. Later tonight I expect reports that final results won't be available as many last minute mail in ballots need to be counted. It could take weeks. You should report on THAT Elex.

Firefighters are blue collar, salt-of-the-earth guys. Go to any firehouse and you’ll maybe find 1 or 2 guys who actually live in LA City. They don’t wanna live in LA. Dealing with all the ODs and wizard fires is incredibly demoralizing. They really despise Bass.
