Reports from Iran suggest that all three of Iran's largest steel production plants were struck in a coordinated targeted strikes. This could substantially affect the national steel industry and manufacturing

Ouch. There are what, a dozen, maybe fifteen countries in the world that have end-to-end integrated steel economies and meaningful steel exports? Decades of painstaking industrialization under severe sanctions, wiped out in a day. Iran will definitely be a much poorer country when this is over, no matter the outcome. People who think that Iran is categorically opposed to a ceasefire should keep this in mind; this is nothing like, e.g. Russia/Ukraine, where only Kiev would benefit from a ceasefire. A lot of people on here are imagining some apocalyptic war until the last drop of blood, but the Iranians have every incentive not to drag this out if there's a possible deal to be made. Of course, destroying Iran's ability to function as an industrial economy is one of the main US/Israeli goals -- one step closer to becoming a non-entity like Syria is now.

📜 Geography If the US is foolish enough to start a big war against Iran, then 2025 is likely to demonstrate yet again that, combined with firepower, geography is the indomitable god of war. (650 words / 4 minutes) imetatronink.substack.com/p/geography
