@acherry333 I think this is my 2 favorite and honestly, great job for hitting it right on the head. Social media is a great way to connect with so many of my friends and family. #utcommtheory
I think agenda setting theory is definitely still relevant. Social media is the main “news” source for many young people, because of this it’s easy for influencers and people of power to influence our beliefs and behaviors by sharing their own thoughts and opinions. #UTcommtheory
My favorite theory throughout this course was the Uncertainty Reduction Theory. This theory taught me a lot about how to reduce uncertainty towards people in both verbal and nonverbal ways. #UTcommtheory
@kaseygale1 I think Paramount has had a very lack luster performance for sometime now. They had a opportunity to be better though but idk they can't. #utcommtheory
"I have a parasocial relationship with @Oprah Winfrey - her inspiring stories and positive affirmations bring a sense of motivation and encouragement to my life. It's like having my own personal mentor to turn to for guidance and inspiration! #utcommtheory
Agenda Setting is relevant. media plays a significant role in shaping public opinion & determining which issues receive attention.Gatekeeping affects my experience by influencing the topics that dominate my feed, potentially limiting exposure to diverse perspectives #utcommtheory
I have witnessed nonassertive separation as a student in both high school and college. I have found that many groups will stick to themselves and avoid outsiders. I see those in the same majors stick together or those who are in the same groups or athletic teams. #UTcommtheory
If I were to post something as simple as "enjoying this mimosa" my friends will know I am enjoying a mimosa most likely because it was free and I am cheap. whereas coworkers might think I have a drinking problem and suggest firing and/or sending me to AA #utcommtheory
This might be Twitter, but it's Twitter for the classroom. It would behoove me not to treat this account like it's my private account in order to avoid context collapse. #utcommtheory
When posting a photo of my family gathering on social media, I experience context collapse as my diverse group of friends, acquaintances, and colleagues all interpret and react to the image differently based on their individual perspectives and relationships with me
communication technology negatively impacted our experience of the COVID-19 pandemic was through the rapid spread of misinformation and conspiracy theories #utcommtheory
🙋♂️ Individualism: I shine with autonomy, chasing personal goals and independence. It's about "me" and my unique identity.
🤝 Collectivism: We thrive in harmony, valuing the community's needs above all. It's about "us" and our shared bond.

I had a difficult talk with a colleague, but I didn't want to come across as confrontational. So, I chose to be nonassertive, using a softer tone and not using "you" statements. NOT the most comfortable thing to do, yet, it helped defuse a potential conflict.

A situation that causes me cognitive dissonance is when I buy multiple coffees a day, knowing that I don’t need all that caffeine or to spend all that money. I rationalize it after the fact by saying I have a lot to do and need the energy. #UTcommtheory
An example of pathos is when my family had a fundraiser where we sold shirts and raised money for my aunt who was battling breast cancer. This was an emotional proof, because one of our loved ones was going through something extremely tough. #UTcommtheory
The approach of decision making I respond best to is participation. I believe that if there is a choice being made that is affecting lots of people, they should all have a say in it and be able to have their voices heard on that matter. #UTcommtheory
@Emma37439986 I know a guy that works there ewho told me 90%of his job consist of taking complaints and the rest is to ticket complainers 🤦🏾♂️ I wish we can do something about the parking at Ut
An organization that needs a culture change is UT parking. I believe that since we pay so much in tuition already, we should not have to pay this much for a pass. Also, a $55 ticket is excessive considering we pay only a little double that for each semester’s pass. #UTcommtheory
