@LundukeJournal I have a Windows 11 system with 16 gigs and a dual core 2.6 GHz CPU and it crawls. Like at least 90 seconds to pull up a browser crawls. Windows is definitely underplaying it's specs. I've also put Mint on it and it flies.

@SandyofCthulhu I think a lot of Euros have difficulty understanding this. I was taught the metric system as well but when people go home and need to use measurements they use imperial. Why? Because imperial is practical. Metric makes sense on paper but in the real world lacks simple utility.

Do Europeans NOT know that Americans are taught how the metric system works in grammar school? We know how long a centimeter is. How long a kilometer is. How much a kilogram weighs. We’re a little shaky on liters. But we hear about the metric system all the time, and know how to convert. We just don’t do it unless we need to. @kangminlee I think an actual answer is that a large portion of their identity is built on shame. Shame of being oppressed shame of being slaves they've only recently been able to build their own identity, with relatively few achievements. So they look outward to co-op them from other groups

@NikTek It doesn't hold up. At least not the game that was released. It's been constantly improved. The game released in 2020 was a completely different game and no where near what it is now. The version of Cyberpunk we have is only really about 2.5 years old.

Cyberpunk 2077 still holds up so damn well even almost 6 years after its release

@SandyofCthulhu The thing that always got me about Supersize Me is that the very first day he's acting like it's having immediate negative effects on him. Like bro you can eat a single McDonald's hamburger and not die. I knew from that point on it was just garbage with an agenda.

The thing that got me is that Supersize Me just outright lied, and everyone on SOME level of their consciousness knew he lied, but many of us wanted to believe it. Similarly, there were massive outright lies in Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 and Sicko. For instance, in the former film, he shows Al Gore's campaign endparty, and lies, saying it's a victory party because Gore thought he'd won. And in Sicko, Moore completely leaves out the fact that at the time 45% of American health care was government-paid. We can look at Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth and while who knew then, the sea has been rising by millimeters not yards. Going further back to Silent Spring, Rachel Carson told some doozies too. The problem isn't the topics. Pollution IS bad. We DO need to reform American health care. Eating nothing but fast food IS unhealthy. The issue is that in each case the authors made extreme claims which were easily falsified. I feel this really hurts their causes, because now even the things they said that are arguably true are tainted by their prevarications. I think this is a general fault of progressives. They overstep, thinking the ends justify them means, then the backlash at their overreach surprises them. If they'd said, "We should be nicer to immigrants." they could have gotten cooperation but instead they said, "bring in 8 million immigrants without vetting any." and now make the surprised Pikachu face when there's opposition.

@TheCinesthetic There are very few things that actually hurt me anymore. Cancelling Venture Bros was definitely one of them. I was miserable for 3 days straight. The only other event I can think that slammed me that hard was the breakup of Daft Punk.

The Venture Bros. (2003–2018) builds over time into something way richer than it first looks, taking old-school adventure tropes and turning them into long-running character arcs, and losing it before it fully wrapped still stings.
