Update on Ozoro r@-p!ng festival;
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) visited the King of Ozoro Kingdom in Delta State over the reported incidents.
According to reports, the delegation confirmed that they had also visited several affected female students receiving treatment at the hospital. The King assured them that the perpetrators would be brought to justice.
In a related development, the Chief Priest of Ozoro, alongside Oramudhu leaders allegedly responsible for organizing and planning the festival without informing the king, were arrested by the Nigeria Police in connection with the incident.
The King of Ozoro Kingdom has also banned the festival with immediate effect.

This is alarming, disgusting and embarrassing. The CP has ordered an investigation into the incident. The command condemns this in totality, no custom or tradition is superior to the rights of citizens. The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Aina Adesola urges Deltans to remain calm while assuring that those responsible for this barbaric act will be arrested and brought to justice. The command also calls for witnesses who can provide with useful information that can aid the ongoing investigation.

Many girls have reportedly been r@p£d and m0l£sted by men in Ozoro during what is being described as a “r@p!ng festival” in the area. According to multiple reports and videos circulating online, today is said to be the day of this festival in the Ozoro community, and girls are wvrned not to go outside. It is alleged that any girl seen outside could be att@ck£d and r@p£d by groups of men. Foreigners who are unaware of this situation have reportedly fallen v!ctim as well. There is Delta state university in Ozoro, and many female students may not be fully aware of the d@nger. It is distvrbing that something like this could be tolerated in society. This is heartbreaking, and urgent action needs to be taken.
