The R.I.C.E. Protocol is made up. Icing injuries doesn't work for healing. I recommend people look into @TheAntiIceMan (Gary Reinl) for some great explanation on why ice doesn't help injuries and what you should do instead.

No, there is never a correct time to ice an injury.
Think about it, icing it halts blood flow and will delay this process to take place. Your statement makes no sense. Icing is never the answer.
And the guy who coined the term RICE has since admitted it is incorrect.
Please look into @TheAntiIceMan work.
