That might very well be their motivation (winning young men back to Dems) to keep given this guy exposure, however I don’t think that’s going to pan out for them. If they lost young men because of some of the crazy beliefs of the left, that really hasn’t changed. Add to that the influence of Charlie Kirk on young college age kids embracing conservative values. No way this guy is a Charlie Kirk. So good luck with that.

At this stage I won’t be surprised IF they made the playoffs or IF they didn’t. I think they’re capable of it but that still depends on whether the new blood can play in NY, can live up to expectations, can fit in on the Mets, can surpass the combined production of the four favorites that Stearns let go. That’s a big ask.

Lots of folks -- myself included -- have noted that no team has made the playoffs after losing 12 straight. But that ignores the fact that since the postseason expanded to 14 teams, only two other clubs have lost 12 in a row. Fangraphs still projects the Mets' odds at 42.6%.

#Mets Pitching Prospect <-> Joander Suarez <-> RHP <-> Age 26 <-> Solid 2025 season at AA -> 5% BB-RATE is elite & second in #Mets Farm System to Zach Thornton’s 4% BB-RATE. 25% K-RATE in 2025 is also slightly above average. He was dominant against RHB -> 0.183 BAA | 0.77 WHIP Recorded 51.2 IP versus RHB -> allowed 34 H | 6 BB | 54 K With all the SP Depth the #Mets have in the upper minors, wouldn’t it make more sense to see if Suarez has the ability to contribute as a RP, since the #Mets desperately need RP help? Splits versus LHB are not pretty -> but the BB-Rate, ability to dominate RHB, & strikeout potential offers tremendous upside as a potential high-leverage RP. His 4-Seam FB averages 95 MPH -> which will tick up as a RP. He developed an above-average Slider after ditching his cutter, plus a Curveball & Changeup that grade as average. RP who can throw 4 pitches for strikes & 95+ Avg. FB velocity are exponentially harder to face, than standard 2-pitch RP. Hopefully the plan is to convert him into a RP later this season, so he can contribute as a RP in the #Mets bullpen for 2nd Half. At some point #Mets Brass have to commit to developing high-leverage RP in-house like the #Brewers do -> stockpiling SP prospects & trading them for RP rentals is not sustainable. Yes, I agree that Tom Homan is a national treasure. This man’s commitment to an important and dare I say, a righteous cause, is Trump-like. If Americans can’t realize that he is trying to fix a dangerous problem we find ourselves in due to the Biden administration’s illegal policies, then the America we know is doomed.

As a lifelong Mets fan I’ve learned to be optimistic however, I think even my optimism is starting to wane. My issue is that I don’t feel that the experiment of breaking up the core of a team and replacing them with players who hopefully will make the team better. Currently the Mets are underperforming to say the least in the midst of the longest losing streak in April in franchise history…12 games. I am still hoping that they will turn this nightmare around, however I’m not confident that the new players abilities combined, can equally much less improve, on those we’ve allowed to leave. I.e., how do you replace Alonzo’s home runs, McNeal’s ability to play any position, Nimmo’s enthusiasm and club house presence, and finally one of the top elite closers in baseball, Edwin Diaz? These guys were all relatively productive in a really bad 2025 season. I don’t believe that the current replacement players could even equal much less improve on these four players’ production and value to the team. Is it the fault of the players inability to produce, the manager’s lack of motivation or mismanaging, the GM’s poor decision to experiment with the team and the players he brought in, or the owner’s refusal to override his GM? I imagine only time will tell. LGM anyway
