My guide to aping coins with runner potential
Narrative: Is the coin your about to ape matching market sentiment. This might look like seeing deriv coins of a main runner being made on pumpfun repeatedly for the day, people on the timeline talking about different meta waves coming in (AI, tiktok, animals etc), and does it feel funny or unique like does it stand out in such a way that it feels like it could actually go the distance on it’s own. Is it also viral currently?
- Volume: I personally try aping when a coin has clear signs of momentum, so maybe around 150k-300k mcap and is like genuinely showing a clear and rapid uptrend.
- Distribution: If holder distribution is showing like <25% early on and bubble maps (with no liquidity pool turned on) is showing low, or ideally no bundling this is another positive.
- People in the token initially: Having people with like greater influence, or are consistently in coins who run up early (keep track of repeat accounts in like x comms and stuff), that is another sign of a winner.
- Signals: You should start looking at accounts who routinely post good plays early, or have enough motion to really catalyse a runner (through soft shilling or even just hard shilling), KOL wallet trackers (though less important), and whale wallet tracker accounts. Compile this into an X list and keep your list narrow based on volume of quality tickers coming out from different accounts.
If ticks these boxes it’s probably a good idea to ape with pretty heavy size, like a good 10-20% of your relative port size, unless you’re already loaded up with SOL.
