@VargasKevi23363 That’s sad. Consider most baby showers have a diaper raffle, where you bring a pack and can potentially win a small gift. Diapers are about $30. I also understand the dress code. She had a specific vision and wanted great pictures. Do people really wear black to a shower??

After I delivered my healthy daughter and delivered my placenta, I was so pleased that it was intact and almost wanted to hold that, too. 😹 My husband is still traumatized from me trying to get him to admire the placenta.

@HormoneHangover I remember (23 yrs ago) when I was preparing to have my first baby (with the UW midwife team) they kept trying to get me to create a "birth plan." I said "the plan is: I'm having a baby." I had worked for years as a newborn hospitalists & birth plans seemed like asking 4 trouble.

I could never pay for a doula because what if she was really annoying when I went into labor. Happened to a friend of mine. The nurses can annoy me for free

@latterdaylaura I agree. However, you do need some time for yourself. It’s ok to participate in your hobby once in awhile—especially as kids get older. It’s important for them to see you happy and bringing yourself joy.

My super strong parenting opinion is that while the kids are awake, you come last. No spending all of Saturday golfing. That’s family time. 6 am tee time only, maybe. Wanna go to the gym? Go after the kids go to bed, or wake up at 5. In a few short years, they’ll be out of the house and you’ll have all the time in the world for your own stuff. It’s okay to come last for a while.
