The idea of universal liberation is more mahayana, but it isn't like, say, Tikkun Olam or whatever. A primary goal is acceptance and understanding why your suffering is largely self-inflicted.

@psychotakes @PannonianMantis I disagree and I genuinely don't know about that other part you are talking about. Buddhism is defined by its teachings such as anatman and interdependent arising which all have a very practical dimension.

You can see this in many ways, such as how Buddhists have constantly bragged for the last 20-30 years about how much knowledge they’re gonna give to neuropsychologists and quantum physicists, which all never actually results in anything.
