Women around the world are driving change - on the frontlines of conflict, in courtrooms, in communities, and in the halls of the United Nations. Their leadership is bold, transformative, and visionary. Ending conflict‑related sexual violence requires exactly this kind of determination. This is what it means to lead #LikeAWoman.

#Stigma keeps too many survivors of conflict‑related sexual violence from seeking help. Our office works to change that: ✨training police and prosecutors in Iraq on survivor‑centered approaches ✨supporting mobile courts in the DRC to bring justice closer to communities, and ✨strengthening confidential services worldwide. Together, we can replace stigma with dignity and hope.

After 11 years of conflict in #Yemen, survivors of sexual violence continue to show extraordinary resilience. We stand with them in demanding peace, protection, and justice. #EndRapeInWar

Gender equality isn’t optional - it’s essential. Our office drives policies that protect rights, elevate women’s leadership, and put gender justice at the center of peace and security. Progress moves when we do. ✨

Between 2022 and 2024, the UN recorded an 87% increase in sexual violence in conflict - a devastating escalation of one of the world’s most under‑punished crimes. Yet many countries still lack consent‑based legal definitions of rape, leaving survivors without the justice they deserve. When laws fail to recognize consent, perpetrators benefit and cycles of violence deepen. Our office supports national authorities with legal reform, investigative expertise, and prosecution strategies to ensure accountability for conflict‑related sexual violence. #EndRapeInWar

At #CSW70, SRSG Pramila Patten warned of escalating conflict‑related sexual violence in South Sudan, where stalled protection measures leave women and girls at grave risk. With rising cases, limited services, and only 10 hospitals hosting Family Protection Centers, survivors face a dangerous protection gap. She urged the Government to move from paper to practice and called on Member States to recognize that funding cuts cost lives. Survivors deserve accountability and real support - now. #EndRapeInWar

⚖️ Justice for survivors of conflict-related sexual violence starts long before a courtroom—it often starts in a clinic. Timing matters: survivors may have just 72 hours to access critical medical care. On Wednesday, Norway stressed support for UN Action in Ukraine.
