In the run-up to the Munich Security Conference, Vice Chairman of the American Security Program at the America First Policy Institute, @FredFleitz, shared his views on the Trump Doctrine during a multi-city tour through Germany, starting in Berlin. We are grateful to Mr. Fleitz for engaging candidly with German opinion leaders, parliamentary staffers, and young professionals on “The Trump National Security Strategy and America’s Vital Alliance with Europe.” NATO modernization, the war in Ukraine, more balanced defense contributions, reducing regulatory barriers, and countering China’s malign influence were just some of the topics discussed. Our partners, the German-American and Foreign and Security Policy Associations of Parliamentary Staffers, and Young DGAP joined in valuable discussions about shared risks and shared responsibilities.  Mr. Fleitz underlined a clear common interest in a stronger and more capable Europe, as well as Germany’s growing leadership within NATO and the importance of robust economic ties that benefit both nations. Am #InternationalenHolocaustGedenktag gedenken wir des Jahrestages der Befreiung von Auschwitz-Birkenau und ehren die sechs Millionen Jüdinnen und Juden, die vom NS-Regime ermordet wurden, ebenso wie die Millionen weiteren Opfer, die durch die nationalsozialistische Verfolgung ins Visier genommen wurden. Die Grausamkeit, der Hass und die Menschenverachtung, die den Holocaust ermöglichten, endeten nicht mit der Befreiung der Lager. Antisemitismus und Hass sind auch heute noch präsent und nehmen zu. Dieser Tag ruft uns alle dazu auf, innezuhalten – und zu handeln –, indem wir durch unsere Worte und unser Handeln Würde, Erinnerung und Verantwortung fördern.
