When I was a kid, the Bronx was burning. My dad was a fireman who happened to be an Ivy League graduate. He told me it wasn’t the crackheads torching the city, whatever the news said. It was fraud. Let me explain how it worked…. John Doe buys a rundown apartment building for $100k. He pockets the redevelopment tax break, then sells it to Joe Doe for $250k. Joe pockets the tax break, then sells it to Jerry Doe for $500k. Rinse and repeat until the building is worth $5 million. The tax breaks are real. The money is not. Because the buyers are all family, the cash flows out of Swiss bank account 27852 and right back into 27852 after every sale. There’s a transaction cost, sure, but the tax breaks more than cover it. Then comes the payoff: they insure the building for $5 million and burn it down. The name for this was “Jewish Lightning.” The phrase stuck around not because the landlords were all Jewish, but because the stereotype hit a nerve in a city run by Jewish mayors from 1974 to 1989, the peak of the burning. Fair or not, the term stuck. So why was none of this investigated? NGO funding, of course. The NYPD union was powerful, and NYC detectives had sweeping investigative authority over almost everything. Except arson. Arson belonged to FDNY detectives. NGOs, routing money through union donations, stoked the rivalry between cops and firemen. Long story short, arson investigators got no funding and zero cooperation from the NYPD. No money for investigations means no arrests. Eventually the Bronx ran out of buildings to burn, and Giuliani drove the final nail into arson fraud’s coffin. But the lesson survived, and it’s the foundation of today’s fraud. The lesson was this: the actual value of the asset doesn’t matter. 👉What matters is the movement of money. Destruction is still very profitable. When the Baltimore bridge collapsed, the cleanup and rebuild were estimated at $1.7 billion, with the bridge reopening in 2028. The cost has since ballooned to $5.2 billion, and the wreckage still isn’t fully cleared. Money pours into demolition,, engineering, environmental review, project management, waste removal. But if the work doesn’t actually get done, the real expenses stay low. The money moves; the bridge doesn’t. And here’s the leap: you don’t have to destroy anything at all. You just have to not build it. Democrats allocate money to a government body, which hands it to a project manager, who hires consultants, who hire subcontractors, who hire more subcontractors, who funnel it back to Democrats, who allocate more money. The fewer the actual costs (labor, materials, equipment) the more of the flow you can capture. And if a taxpayer complains, you hire a PR firm and a few consultants to explain why costs keep exploding while nothing gets built. The easiest thing to blame is red tape. So why does red tape exist? Because destroying valuable property, while profitable, is too obviously unethical. Burning buildings gets you arrested, eventually. Not building gets you a ribbon-cutting and a press release. Here’s the deeper trap. Because our most valuable assets are fixed (houses, cars, index funds) we think of money as static. You have what you have. It grows over time, but it doesn’t flow. That’s exactly where the fraud lives: in the flow. The light bulb moment was realizing you don’t need to destroy physical property. You only need to destroy productivity. If labor and materials are never purchased while money pours in, the fraud works. You don’t have to build or destroy anything of value, just productivity. You just announce a project and start writing checks while throwing up enough red tape to block any real spending on labor and materials. This is basically why Congress handed @PeteButtigieg $1.2 trillion and our roads and bridges still suck five years later. They put up signs, traffic cones, and red tape, and little else. But there are a few residual problems. 1/2

Mark Carney basically announcing a bail out for Vancouver and area developers; Too many completed condos sitting empty. Metro Vancouver alone around 2,500 finished units are standing vacant with no buyers. They don't want to sell at a loss, they can't afford to hold those empty units indefinitely. We will convert vacant condos into affordable housing. We're going to go use the right financing mechanisms, convert those into affordable housing so people can move in and use that." Greed and horrible municipal planning has led to building overpriced shitboxes that no one wants. Now Carney will reward that with taxpayer dollars instead of letting the market solve itself by bringing the prices down. Absurd intervention. I thought he was an economist??

Basically you have two choices: either you believe Israel is a genocidal state that is morally comparable to Nazi Germany, or you believe there's a giant global conspiracy of mainstream western institutions and media outlets dedicated to making Israel look bad. Believing the second option is the only way to get around believing the first. That's the only way to believe mainstream outlets like The New York Times are committing antisemitic blood libel with their reporting on the systemic sexual torture of Palestinians in Israeli prisons. It's the only way to dismiss the fact that every relevant human rights group on earth says Israel is guilty of genocide, while zero comparable human rights groups say it isn't. You necessarily need to espouse a wild conspiracy theory. You need to believe the conspiracy goes all the way to the top, with its tentacles in mainstream institutions all across the globe. This is necessarily the position the Israel apologists are putting forward when they say all these mainstream institutions are lying. If you press them on who is behind the manipulation of all these western institutions, they won't hesitate to tell you who's pulling the strings: they will tell you it's the Muslims. They'll say it's Qatari influence operations and Hamas propaganda. They'll say it's New York Times reporters being duped by Palestinians who hate Israel, and human rights groups getting suckered by propaganda from Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. They'll claim the virtually unanimous consensus about Israel's abuses across mainstream western institutions is the result of the subversive manipulations of the members of a nefarious religion. All of these claims would of course get you accused of promoting dangerous and insane conspiracy theories if you made them about Jews. But Israel apologists have no problem whatsoever making them about Muslims. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that this is ridiculous. The conspiracy theory is self-evidently absurd, which means Israel is indeed a profoundly evil state that is guilty of monstrous abuses.

The single dumbest conspiracy theory in the entire world is that every major humanitarian institution on earth is conspiring to falsely frame Israel for the crime of genocide. And yet believing this bat shit insane conspiracy theory is the only way to think it’s not a genocide. There is no other way to claim that there is no genocide happening in Gaza without treating this self-evidently ridiculous theory as true. In order to believe that there is no genocide in Gaza, you need to accept it as a given that the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory is conspiring to frame Israel for this crime. You also need to believe that the International Association of Genocide Scholars is in on the conspiracy. You also need to believe the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem is in on the conspiracy. You also need to believe that Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, another Israeli organization, is in on the conspiracy. You also need to believe that Amnesty International is in on the conspiracy. You also need to believe that Doctors Without Borders are in on the conspiracy. You also need to accept that Human Rights Watch are in on the conspiracy. You also need to accept that the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights is in on the conspiracy. You also need to accept that the International Federation for Human Rights is in on the conspiracy. You also need to believe that the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention is in on the conspiracy. You also need to believe the conspiracy is so widespread and pervasive that there exists not a single major human rights group which holds that Israel is NOT committing genocide in Gaza. You need to believe this conspiracy goes all the way to the top. Toward what end are all these institutions conspiring to deceive the world into thinking that the innocent, virtuous state of Israel is guilty of these heinous crimes? Well, that’s where the “theory” part of conspiracy theory comes in. You need to have some reason why all these groups would be working together to trick everyone into thinking Israel is committing genocide. “Cui bono?”, as they say in conspiracy circles. If you press the average Israel defender to explain why all these institutions would be lying about Israel’s actions in Gaza, you will eventually get them to admit that their theory is that all these institutions secretly hate Jews. That it’s a giant antisemitic conspiracy designed to discredit the Israeli state and make Jewish people feel sad. I defy you to find me a dumber conspiracy theory than this. There’s nothing that can possibly compete. QAnon. Flat earth. Reptilians. They all seem fairly reasonable in comparison to this demented nonsense. They’re certainly a lot less harmful. They’re a lot less harmful because they’re not being used to justify an ongoing genocide, and because they’re not being promoted by the most powerful people in the world. All the major western powers who’ve refused to acknowledge that we’re looking at a genocide in Gaza subscribe to the dumb conspiracy theory in question. All the mass media institutions who frame genocide as an unfounded accusation rather than an established fact verified by the overwhelming consensus of the world’s relevant experts necessarily subscribe to the world’s dumbest conspiracy theory as well. It’s the dumbest conspiracy theory in the world, but it’s also the mainstream narrative. It’s what our governments and our media tell us is reality. They’re a bunch of tinfoil hat-wearing crackpots, and they rule the world. The western empire is the craziest, most murderous, most deceitful, and most dangerous power structure on earth, and it is only getting more so. Which is why the narratives we’re being asked to believe are getting dumber and dumber by the year.

🚨 WOW! JD Vance is DIRECTLY calling out Israeli cabinet members for their personal attacks on President Trump "Donald J. Trump is the ONLY head of state in the ENTIRE WORLD who is sympathetic to the nation of Israel at this moment in time, and he happens to be the head of state of the world superpower. If I was in the cabinet of the Israeli government, I might not be attacking the only powerful ally that I have ANYWHERE left in the entire world." "The other thing that I would say is that over the last 3 months, TWO-THIRDS of the defensive weapons that have protected your homeland have been built by AMERICAN HANDS and paid for by AMERICAN TAX DOLLARS. The problem for Israel is not Donald J. Trump, and anybody in Israel who thinks their biggest problem is the President of the United States needs to WAKE UP and smell the reality of the situation that country is in."

I can't believe I actually need to explain this to another grownup, but for starters, crosses and bible verses are overt religious symbols while pride hats aren't. Honestly, I think a lot of people fundamentally misunderstand the point of pride night: by wearing the hat, you're not abandoning your own religious convictions and you're not trying to convert anyone to a particular lifestyle or belief system; you're simply showing support for a historically marginalized group of folks by saying that it's okay to be yourself and that a person isn't inherently worthless just because of who they are. It's really not asking a lot, is it? And if you aren't lucky enough to have gay friends in your life, you should get some because (a) you'll have more visibility into the shit they deal with on the regular and (b) their weddings are always 10x more fun.
Jeff Stanek@JeffStanek1

For everyone who's got a problem with the MLB players writing Bible verses on their hats during their team's Pride Night game, I've got another scenario for you. An MLB team decides to have Christian Night at the Park, and requires each player to wear a hat with a cross on it, rather than the team's logo. What's your response?

Trump killed 50 of Iran's top leaders, did at least $1 trillion worth of damage to their military equipment and infrastructure, totally wiped out their naval fleet and air fleets, put their government in a state of endemic internal conflict, and left them totally incapable of meaningfully attacking their neighbors in the region any time soon. By the end of it, all Iran could do is rig the strait with mines and take pop shots at passing ships. The loss of insurance coverage had more of an impact on the flow of marine traffic than Iran did. I personally would have preferred the total destruction of the IRGC (which technically isn't off the table if they decide to FAFO) but it would have been difficult to accomplish without more civilian casualties -- something third worldist leftoids were already complaining (and campaigning) about. In the meantime, consider the following: No boots on the ground. No prolonged conflict. No permanent occupation. No military draft. No lasting impact on energy prices. No multi-trillion dollar boondoggle. None of the things anti-war retards with Israel tunnel vision like Dave Smith and Candace Owens predicted would happen. In addition: - Oil and gas prices are falling in time for summer and the midterms. - "Free Palestine" third worldists like Graham Platner have less ammo on which to campaign for Congress. - Russia is bringing in less revenue. - The U.S. got a foot in the door to block China's Belt and Road projects. - Trump has greater latitude to tighten sanctions on Russia without exacerbating supply shocks to energy markets. - Europe and America have agreed to increase cooperation in providing for the national defense of Ukraine. - Israel isn't a signatory to the MOU and isn't bound by its terms, leaving it free to independently defend itself from threats if necessary. - America isn't creating a power vacuum for China and Russia to fill by absconding and surrendering its own influence over the region. The people who say this is a "humiliating defeat" for Trump? - Russia - China - Iran - Democrats - The leftist Drudge-led media establishment All the worst people you know have joined arms and are pretending like Iran pulled one over on the Bad Orange Man in hopes that it will piss off Republicans and Israelis enough to get them to kill the deal themselves. It's very transparent. Don't let your enemies control you with such a stupid and obvious Reflexive Control op.
