This is a tricky one. Was the deceased still a threat by the time she stabbed her? According to the story the deceased had been disarmed and presumably no longer a “threat”? That is the big question. A lot also depends on the account of the witnesses nevertheless, the sentence in my opinion is too harsh if the killing is not premeditated. They should appeal.
