I’ll say ~$1m in guarantees for Wentz is right about the line where I think there should be a meaningful expectation that the Vikings are going to trade McCarthy. League average is 2.5 QBs on the 53, but it’s rare to have 3 guys with guarantees/trade value.
Tom Pelissero@TomPelissero

Veteran QB Carson Wentz is re-signing with the Vikings, sources tell The Insiders. So Minnesota’s QB room now features three former top-10 picks: Kyler Murray, J.J. McCarthy and Wentz, who played well last season before a shoulder injury.

@mjenzie @TyDunne I'm sure they *could* but I don't think it'd make them much better. Plus afaik a lot of them are lawyers who'd rather be using that time lawyering

@WontLogOff @TyDunne There are a myriad of things they could be doing to prepare themselves to be better at there jobs. Watch film, watch and grade their performance from the week previous, watch other refs and grade them. They could easily find 30 hours of work during a week

@WontLogOff @TyDunne Go over their screwups. Watch that tape.... Refs should watch as much film as well to understand what they think they see isn't what they see etc.

@WontLogOff Refs need to work out. Refs need to review games and go over errors they made. They can also review other games and discuss amongst themselves why certain calls were or were not made.

— who is in incredible shape — is an amazing thing to add to any signing tweet

Sources: The #Panthers are signing former Packers and Eagles RB AJ Dillon to a 1-year deal. After losing Rico Dowdle, Carolina adds Dillon — who is in incredible shape — to join Chuba Hubbard and company in the Panthers’ RB room.

@SamHoppen Very cool analysis though! Really shows how much the upside of taking RB/TE/G/C/LB/S is lower in the top 5/10/15. Interesting dropoff from 4-8 too, much bigger dropoffs between those picks than the surrounding ones

@SamHoppen Why 92 instead of 96? Also imo for WR, CB, and LB you have two guys on the field most of the time and one guy very roughly half the time so I'd use 64 there as slot WRs, nickel CBs and third LBs aren't paid like starters (they're their own class above backups but below starters)

Now that the biggest wave of free agency is done, here's a chart showing how the 1st round draft salaries rank within the current market for at each position and their percentile among *starters* in terms of APY, depending on which position is drafted at each spot:

It will ALWAYS haunt me that these sources may be right (not just fed BS) and there could be high up Giants execs STILL employed that ever thought Shedeur at 3 or anywhere near the top 100 picks was a good idea. I doubt I’ll ever study a more overrated QB prospect in my lifetime
Ryan Dunleavy@rydunleavy

Seeing #Vikings relegate J.J. McCarthy reminds me I bit on an all-time #nfldraft smokescreen with #Giants. And their evaluation seems very right. Very different than Shedeur Sanders, who some #NyGiants execs loved before Brian Daboll spoke up about Jaxson Dart.

good work by the dolphins getting all that draft capital as they rebuild their roster. waddle is 12th in APY among WRs so this frees up some cash and cap as well for the broncos they’re getting an elite separator and someone who ranked 10th in YPRR last year. it’s a lot of draft picks to give up but their pass catcher group needed some juice like this
Ari Meirov@MySportsUpdate

The #Broncos are trading the No. 30 overall pick and a 3rd and 4th round pick to the #Dolphins for WR Jaylen Waddle and a 4th round pick.

@nickdoesmiss @jmthrivept Hmmm it still ultimately comes down to who's better, but at 5mil per year he's more likely than a guy getting 2mil to have a role if he's not the starter imo. So a small difference 🤔

@WontLogOff @jmthrivept My bad more so what my point was, CRod is getting 6 guaranteed which is what matters for cap purposes. If Tuten doesn’t take the job, then he was always dust. I just don’t think a ~1% difference in cap hit between White and CRod changes anything in regards to a Tuten breakout

I will be honest regarding Bhayshul Tuten, I would’ve felt better about Rachaad White signing with the Jags for $3M than I do with Chris Rodriguez reuniting with Liam Coen for $6M..
Alivia Tassely@AliviaASJax

#jaguars RB Chris Rodriguez: I talked to my agent early 2 days ago, 4:15 I was boarding a plane flying to Virginia. My phone is blowing up... agents calling me.. Liam was calling me... Before I even touched down my agent said we agreed to terms @ActionSportsJax

@MrTyler_Durden_ @jmthrivept I feel like this was the commentary about him last year and why JCM would be better in fantasy but I think the truth is the Commanders are simply one of many teams that are bad at self scouting. His production numbers have consistently been good when he's gotten chances

Good notes from John. I understand: - Some outsiders wishcasting a BTJ trade - Other teams poking around to try and trade for him - The Jaguars trading him they got a monster offer However, I would not understand at all the Jags selling low on a talented rookie contract WR who helps their offense with and without getting the ball. Would rather just pour into him and help him become more involved across multiple phases of the offense. It's that simple.
John Shipley@_John_Shipley

I remain dubious that this team will pay Davis 26M, Carter 34M per, Quinyon 30M, and DeJean 20-25M on new deals. That doesn’t even account for guys like Jalyx Hunt, Nolan Smith, or Moro Ojomo. Something has to shake between AJ Brown (or Jalen Carter), imo.
Jordan Schultz@Schultz_Report

BREAKING: The #Eagles and star DT Jordan Davis are finalizing a 3-year, $78M extension with $65M guaranteed, per sources. A massive $26M-per-year deal done by @WinSportsGroup for Davis, making him the highest-paid NT in NFL history. 💰💰💰

Free agency effectively opens tomorrow. Impactful RB class, especially considering lack of RB talent in draft. I'd have it something like: 1. Kenneth Walker (age 25) 2. Travis Etienne (27) 3. Tyler Allgeier (25) 4. Rico Dowdle (28) 5. Kenny Gainwell (26) 6. Rachaad White (27) 7. JK Dobbins (27, Lisfranc) 8. Aaron Jones (31) 9. Sean Tucker (24) 10. Najee Harris (27, Achilles) 11. Brian Robinson (26) 12. Isiah Pacheco (26)

@Jeff_Nowak The diff is 1) they only pay players who are actually good and 2) they don't commit to paying them beyond when they'll be good. It's the actually good version of aggressive cap management

I might just be in the wrong corner of the internet, but I don’t see nearly enough criticism of what the Eagles are doing currently. They’re effectively following the Saints’ cap playbook to the letter these days and I don’t see anyone calling it a Ponzi scheme.
