BREAKING: Whalers in Norway have killed their first whale of the 2026 season. Norway is one of only three countries—along with Japan and Iceland—that continues to engage in commercial whaling, flouting the International Whaling Commission’s global ban that went into effect 40 years ago. Commercial whaling is inhumane—and needless. Whale meat is increasingly unpopular with the Norwegian public; despite significant marketing efforts to encourage domestic whale meat consumption, just 2% of Norwegians say that they eat whale meat “often,” and much of the meat obtained by whalers goes unused. In fact, AWI and other organizations have found documentation that whalers have offloaded thousands of pounds of unwanted meat for use in dog food, including as recently as late 2024, when an illegal Norwegian shipment of more than 79,000 pounds of whale meat was intercepted in Finland, where it was destined to be fed to sled dogs. 📸: Lillian Tveit

Gold Dancer died at Aintree on Friday. He was not the first. He will not be the last. The RSPCA confirmed he was the 42nd horse to die in UK racing in 2026. It is only April. Since the year 2000, 68 horses have died at Aintree alone. PETA responded by calling the Grand National Festival the Grand Massacre. Animal Aid said the words that landed hardest: Everyone who bought a ticket, placed a bet or watched the ITV coverage paid for this horse to die. The BHA pointed to a falling fatal injury rate of 0.22 percent in 2025. Animal welfare groups said that number still represents hundreds of horses dying every year for entertainment. Gold Dancer won £67,524. He was dead within minutes of crossing the line. The Grand National ran the following day.

Scientists have added emperor penguins to the 'Red List' of species at risk of extinction, warning that global warming has plunged the population into steep decline. The International Union for Conservation of Nature said climate change was rapidly melting the ice in Antarctica where the penguins breed and find food. The Antarctic fur seal has also been put on the endangered list.

Ynys Cybi doesn’t need a holiday camp! We need to keep the only woodland with public access, we need to protect our green spaces ! People come to Ynys môn and Ynys Cybi for the tranquil wild spaces and wildlife, to get away from built up areas towns cities etc .
