Yesterday, I dug into United States attorney for the Northern District of Alabama, Prima Escalona Formbys work background and personal connections. Prima Escalona Formby signed the indictment on Johnathan Cagles case back in January. By February 20th, just a month later, she left that poistion and went back to private practice at a law firm, Maynard Nexsen PC, as a shareholder. May 10, 2026, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) was indicted by a federal grand jury. The indictment focused on the organization itself rather than specific individuals. The indictment alleges the SPLC engaged in wire fraud, bank fraud, money laundering, etc.. Prima Escalona Formby has represented clients in at least 7 different cases, alongside the SPLC, and the court documents reveal many names from the SPLC, including Scott McCoy, Southern Poverty Law Center's interim deputy legal director.
