Not doing so would be more weird. It is common for people to present themselves as informed, even without conducting proper DD.

KIP is playing damage control, but the facts don’t add up. Let’s break it down. 👇 1️⃣ KIP claims they had no role in the $LIBRA launch, yet they were listed on the website from the start. If they were merely “invited post-launch,” why did they openly associate themselves with the project while the token was actively being traded? That’s not how a passive, uninvolved party acts. 2️⃣ Saying ‘we didn’t handle the wallets’ doesn’t absolve responsibility. Even if Kelsier Ventures led the launch, KIP knowingly attached their name to the project while it was gaining traction—especially after President Milei’s tweet. That means they benefited from the exposure, whether directly or indirectly. 3️⃣ KIP is now distancing themselves after the controversy, but that’s not how accountability works. If they truly had no involvement, why did they wait until after FUD and accusations surfaced to clarify their role? Transparency isn’t reactive—it should have been stated upfront. 4️⃣ If Kelsier is handling the liquidity, tokens, and fees, then why was KIP actively making public statements about the project’s roadmap? You can’t have it both ways—either you were hands-off from the start, or you were involved and now trying to backtrack. 5️⃣ “We didn’t profit a single cent” doesn’t mean there was no indirect gain. Reputation, visibility, and network effects matter. KIP’s brand was boosted by its connection to $LIBRA—until the backlash started. Now they’re trying to exit clean, but the internet doesn’t forget

Announcement on $LIBRA There has been a lot of misinformation surrounding the $LIBRA launch and KIP’s role. To clarify: The token launch and market making were fully handled by @KelsierVentures, represented by Hayden Davis, the initiators of the project. None of the wallets belonged to KIP or myself. KIP was invited post-launch to manage / oversee the selection of funded tech projects and provide technical infrastructure for AI initiatives. Thus All matters related to the launch and tokens should be directed to Kelsier, as they were handling it and planned to transition the tokens to a foundation. The project gained visibility when President Milei tweeted about it. At that point, KIP had no involvement in the launch, as our role was always after the launch. KIP has taken on alot of FUD today, including with threats to me and my staff, but we were not involved in the launch, we did not handle any tokens or SOL. KIP publicly acknowledged its role in the project (though not in the token issuance) because we were already listed on the website and believed in the initiative’s potential. As a tech company, our focus remains on innovation and infrastructure—never on token launches. After discussions with Kelsier, we have been informed of the following steps: • All SOL from today’s launch will be re-injected into the LP/chart. • All market-making fees will go to a foundation in Argentina. • The foundation will continue running the program as originally planned All details regarding the tokens should be directed to Kelsier. We did not profit a single cent from today's activity. KIP is not in the business of launching tokens or market making. We remain committed to transparency and our role in fostering meaningful technology-driven initiatives.

We need to rethink our listing process at @coinbase given there are ~1m tokens a week being created now, and growing. High quality problem to have, but evaluating each one by one is no longer feasible. And regulators need to understand that applying for approval for each one is totally infeasible at this point as well (they can't do 1m a week). It needs to move from a an allow list to a block list, and utilize customer reviews/automated scans of onchain data etc to help customers sift through. That and we'll continue integrating native DEX support more deeply. Customers shouldn't need to know or care whether the trade is happening on a DEX or CEX.
