Eid ul-Fitr Message of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission H.E. @ymahmoudali On the occasion of Eid ul-Fitr, I extend my warmest greetings to all Muslims across Africa and around the world. This sacred moment, marking the end of Ramadan, is a time of reflection, gratitude, and renewal. It reminds us of the enduring values of compassion, solidarity, and generosity—principles that resonate deeply in a world facing profound challenges. From conflict and displacement to economic uncertainty and climate pressures, our shared humanity is being tested in unprecedented ways. Yet, Eid also calls us to hope. It invites us to strengthen our bonds across nations and communities, to uplift the most vulnerable, and to recommit ourselves to peace, justice, and dignity for all. As we celebrate with our families and loved ones, let us not forget those who mark this day in hardship. May this Eid inspire collective action toward a more just, inclusive, and peaceful world. Eid Mubarak. Read @ au.int/en/pressreleas…

In advance of the 13th World Urban Forum, Africa is shaping its common voice on housing and human settlements. The Africa Urban Forum, #AUF2 is where solutions, partnerships and ideas come together to shape the continent’s urban future. The first Africa Urban Forum in Addis Ababa in 2024 recognised urbanisation as an irreversible trend that the continent must harness for its structural transformation. It called for sustainable and inclusive urbanisation policies, strengthened climate resilience, innovative urban financing mechanisms, and enhanced regional cooperation in line with #Agenda2063.  The AUF2 will deepen dialogue and accelerate action on inclusive, resilient housing across Africa. Africa’s cities are growing fast. The question is: can housing keep up? From 8–10 April, leaders, cities and partners meet in Nairobi for the 2nd Africa Urban Forum #AUF2, to push solutions for adequate housing for all, and to agree a common African position and voice for the 13th World Urban Forum, coming up in May in Baku, Azerbaijan. Housing is more than shelter. It is a foundation for safety, stability, and dignity, and a strategic economic and resilience asset. At #AUF2, African leaders and partners will explore how affordable housing can drive Africa’s transformation. From political leaders and policymakers to mayors, innovators and community leaders, Africa’s urban future requires all stakeholders at the table. That’s what the Africa Urban Forum is all about: collaboration for sustainable cities in Africa. Find more @ au.int/en/newsevents/… #AUF2026 @housingurbanKE @UNHabitat
