@CCamosy 45% unanimous too. Why do those cases make it? Why does this court even need to hear the cases it grants cert—can’t the inferior courts be made to do better?— Yes, all courts can be made to do better. See link in reply.

My take on Mythos is we will look back on security exploitation and say "well obviously it would be the kind of thing models would be good at, just like math!"

@Montaukmagic @JaredKubin the thing is they have no choice. The tooling and models will get better before anyone is able to make the decision to scale back

@JaredKubin I'm so curious what happens next. I think tokens deliver a lot more value than SPLK did but there's definitely a comparison with business models and how leadership makes decisions where costs are scaling linearly with consumption

Remember. “Run rate” is a PACE metric not a cumulative metric. The shorter the window like daily or weekly the less comparable it is (they wouldn’t be disclosing daily spot would they?) I mean it’s whicked impressive $9B run rate implies about $25M/day, $173M/week, $750M/month $30B run rate implies about $82M/day, $577M/week, $2.5B/month So the pace increased by about $57M/day, $404M/week, $1.75B/month, or 3.33x overall

Breaking: Anthropic is now at $30B ARR. Up from $19B in February. That's $11B ARR added in one month. WAT.

Zuck has been an absolute disaster of a leader past few years -metaverse (massive miss) -ai (early but massive miss) -scale aquihire (massive miss) Speaking to some senior folks at the co it seems everyone (directors alike) are genuinely worried abt their jobs and what’s next due to massive swings in priority and horrible WLB with no direction Not kidding, it’s time for meta to have a real conversation about a CEO who can operate. Zuck is missing the Mark pun intended.

Across the board, Iranian-Americans are outraged by talk of targeting energy infrastructure. That said, I haven’t seen much of a grassroots push to contact members of Congress and voice that opposition. With the midterms approaching, their voices have an impact more than ever.

@levelsio are you stupid? Tesla is designed by “designers from tech”. The reason he didn’t want a touch screen is because this is a luxury product and the reason for a large touch screen is obviously to lower costs. No one thinks it’s a better experience.

There has to be some word for this concept It's why designers from tech who design touchscreens like Jony Ive won't put a touch screen in a car but use real knobs Or why programmers don't actually like smart homes and smart appliances at all but want things analog Or why tech people raise their kids without mobile devices Like knowing things so well from inside of it (tech) that you choose to NOT use it because you know the negatives that come with it in specific contexts

coding being largely solved by gpt4-era models is kinda bearish for the labs. you'll generate 95% of your coding tokens locally and route to a gigabrain vera rubin for occasional planning, debugging, refactoring. the labs need far more valuable use cases to keep scaling

glad we're mainstreaming a conversation on california's rail disaster, as it's the gateway to understanding why america can't build anymore. but the msm is still afraid to spell it out: the purpose was never to build rail, but to buy union votes. in this, the dems succeeded.

Interview with Australian ex-spymaster / top diplomat, Dennis Richardson: It is a national disgrace, he argues, that Jewish schools and childcare centres require armed guards, while those a block away do not. “I’ve argued with highly intelligent, well-meaning people who’ve said to me that every Jewish Australian carries moral responsibility for Gaza, and they do not see that as being antisemitic. I’ve spoken to a lot of Australians who’ve said to me, ‘Oh yeah, there were 15 people killed at Bondi, but look at all the people who’ve been killed in Gaza.’ Sorry, what are you saying? Are you saying it’s legitimate to kill 15 innocent people because of Gaza or because they’re Jewish then that’s somehow understandable?”

I think the TBPN acquisition is fairly simple for OpenAI. They hire people all the time and give them hundreds of millions of dollars of equity grants. These people are usually researchers but why not use a mix of cash and stock to get two people to help them on strategic comms.

@ThePrimeagen They do not contradict eachother. Believing that other companies would use their models unsafely, it is perfectly reasonable to use deception to stop them from stealing your capabilities. Retard!!!!!

I cannot stop thinking about Anthropic today for some reason 1. They claim that they are a company that prioritizes safety first and that they are creating a model responsibly 2. we learned from the code leak that anthropic employs deceptive techniques by calling fake tools to throw off distillers... Is this lying pattern built into claude or just the harness running claude? What else are they lying about? I am a bit more concerned now.
