@ThinkWiselyMatt I know you’d press blue, you don’t know who else wouldn’t

I love how one of the red pill counter arguements is just "No actually you wouldnt press blue you liar" It's like they lack complete awareness of other minds
jesse@froststar14

@ThinkWiselyMatt only on internet polls are most of these so called blue button pushers able to make the claim, if tomm this was all real most of you would quietly press the red button, so all this grand standing and guilt tripping is a sham and immoral to boot

@_resolut @G0ffThew There already is a clear option that will save everyone with only 50% if votes. Your „everyone pick red“ option requires a 100% buy-in to save everyone. If the goal is to save everyone, not just your own ass, it is demonstrably the worse choice.

The calculus to press red is, to put it kindly, short-sighted idiot math. It begins and ends with “what input gives me the best odds of living” with no regard for what the world you’d be living in - where everyone you can trust is dead and everyone else knows it - would look like
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@Philfreeze96 @G0ffThew I agree, but obviously the red selection is guaranteed safety and there’s no need to count down the poll. I see your point

@_resolut @G0ffThew Because I want to give them the best odds as survival as well, so with this „Game Theory“, blue is the correct pick if you care about others at all. And just as an aside, in this micro version on Twitter, this has proven to be correct and the red pickers were wrong.

My thought is if I have limited information I would go with the guaranteed survival immediately. Altruism makes sense, but there is a clear option that would save everyone. I think the reason this dilemma is so divisive is because the choice is administered by button, if you had to commit an action like jumping into a blender, the choice is pretty obvious. I just don’t see how >50% of the global population has the 2nd order thinking to perserve everyone over just themselves. The hypothetical samples everyone on earth , not just a western hellsite

@_resolut @G0ffThew Yes I agree but then it is not a question of Game Theory since that would involve arguing about other peoples strategy and how they will act. My expectation is that there will be a significant chance a lot of people intuitively pick the altruistic option, so I should help them.

I understand your position, I’m saying you have no idea what other people pick. The split is between where you place your priority, if you have a two year old that likes blue, maybe you go blue, but if everyone is conscious of the decision they’re making, red guarantees your survival

@_resolut @G0ffThew Thats simply not true even if you try to sound smart. You do not have knowledge if other people thought the same and how they voted. The altruistic blue choice saves everyone (including the red pickers) with only 50% agreement, picking red kills any remaining blues.

one thing to think about is that if red wins even if you immediately survive you are suddenly subjected to a cataclysmicly bad world state where double digit percentages of the world suddenly died and a large percentage of high conscientiousness people died far worse than wwii

@_resolut @G0ffThew Beyond obvious (how, unless you were the last person to vote), many would still choose blue, or press blue for the reasons I mentioned before. Pressing red is choosing to kill them. All the worst people you know are pressing red. Every villain, rapist. You are left with them.

@_resolut @G0ffThew I pick blue because it's the only choice that keeps suicidal people alive and suffering. I can't maximize suffering if I choose red.

I have also empirically derived the State 2 equilibrium for the first time and successfully modeled out the physics of the transition from real, live data. We no longer need theory. Lot more coming. Already have a fifth paper drafted. Below is USA in State 1 vs State 2:

@BillaudHPF @G0ffThew If you were going to get shot as soon as you pressed the button if less than 50% pressed blue, I doubt it would be as easy of a decision, or you just hate living

@_resolut @G0ffThew You have no answer for the obvious: You live in a wide and diverse society. Many lack the capacity (age at both ends, infirmity etc) to make the red choice and will die if red wins. Others will refuse to make it because they refuse to play any part in potentially harming another.

@_resolut @G0ffThew If you pick red you are choosing to kill many toddlers who couldn’t remember they were told to pick red and picked blue because they like that colour. You are choosing to kill so so many. Better to die picking blue than to live left only with those who picked red.

@_resolut @G0ffThew I am willing to risk my life to save those that pick blue. I think it is more an altruism/self interest question, given that there are other people that think like me, and so a world where 100% pick red is not going to happen.
