Good morning Mumbai monsoons (pre-monsoons?) and Gemini Omni which is now able to remove elements from videos. Like Pixel's Magic Eraser, but for video. I am already thinking of interesting applications like my dance video background clean-ups.

A few years back: she'd have said it was an unproductive day, having spent only an hour reviewing Appa's design system V2, reporting a bug, chatting with each of her team mates, about work or otherwise. Now she knows: she had a friend over (currently fast asleep in her bed), spoke to another on a long call, tweeted out mundane and not so mundane things, danced a little, reviewed her dancing bottlenecks with her instructor, and set her environment up for the rest of June. Even more impressive: She had a yummy jasmine tea, more than adequate protein, a perfect breakfast, revamped her Substack (quite creatively I might add) to support her fantasy-fiction writing ambitions, bawled like a baby over something heartbreaking in the afternoon, had her Mothership pat her till she stopped crying and then tell her it wasn't worth her tears. 🩷 She's going to agree with her past self. It WAS a perfectly unproductive day. What about it? 💙

And many times, when I'm tried of creating and maintaining too high standards all the time, I drop them completely and say things knowing they're unclear. Leaving it to my team / family / friends to scratch their heads, scramble to figure it out and tell ME what I'm supposed to think or do next. 😂 A few times, I just go on 9 day vacations. Citing Taleb's anti-fragility if someone asks (as if... they don't 😛) It's peaceful.✌🏼(@atulk_im knows best.)

Having high standards for clarity is useful in lots of other kinds of work too. It's very useful when I'm advising startups at Y Combinator. I ask founders what they plan to do. Their initial answer is a muddy pool. Then we make it clear — not just what to say, but what to do.

The most important component of writing clearly is simply to have high standards for clarity. Then if you write something unclear, you notice, and ask: what did I mean to say? You can just keep doing this over and over. And if you have high standards for clarity, you will.
