G. K. Chesterton explains that reading gives a man more lives than he was born with:
“A man who has read a thousand books is armed for life; a man who has read none is easy prey. The man who has read a thousand books has lived a thousand lives. He has seen cities he has never visited, spoken to men who died centuries ago, and walked in worlds that no longer exist. Reading does not merely inform him; it enlarges him. It stretches the boundaries of his own experience until he becomes something more than himself.”

“Fiat mihi secundum verbum tuum.” (Lc 1,38)

Yesterday-Today-Tomorrow ✝️✝️✝️ Bishop Joseph Strickland: Taken from June 7, 2024 Interview with Crisis Magazine crisismagazine.com/podcast/the-wa…
And I believe what I said, I believe the storm will get worse because there are too many in leadership that, or promoting the storm rather than promoting the truth of Jesus Christ. I think we’re in for more crisis, but again, we don’t despair. We look to the light. I think the image of St. John Bosco’s vision with the church in a terrible storm with the pillars of the Eucharist, our Lord and the Eucharist and the blessed Virgin Mary, those are the pillars of faith that strengthen us. And whatever time, and like I said, I think we’re in a time when we really need to look to those pillars but also look to the saints. I mean, we know that Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man is not a dead Lord from the past. He is alive, he’s with us. He’s present in the Eucharist. .....That heart language is woven into our church as well. And I think it beautifully speaks to us of what the incarnation means, that God took on a human heart. That He died on the cross but also rose from the dead. That human heart began to beat again. And the great mystery of our risen Lord. I think we need to pay attention to that imagery and know that as our hearts beat in our chest, that the Lord’s heart is beating a message of love for all humanity, that will never cease. And that’s what we need to do our best. .....That’s what we’re all called to, that call to holiness is to share that there’s a heart of love calling us away from the false messages of the world, calling us deeper into the truth that is God incarnate among us, Jesus Christ.

Mind-blowing gut news from UC Davis microbiologists: Plain old sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) can actually shield your intestinal lining from inflammation damage
Raw cabbage? Zero protection.
Just the salty brine? Nope, not enough.
In lab tests with human gut cell models, sauerkraut extracts kept the barrier strong and reduced damage from inflammatory cytokines. Unfermented cabbage? No dice.
It’s the full fermentation magic that creates powerful metabolites, like lactic acid, GABA, and unique amino acid derivatives, that your gut cells recognize and thrive on.
A small daily serving (just a forkful or two!) might help build a more resilient digestive system—especially paired with plenty of fiber.
Fermented foods never stop surprising us. Who’s adding more kraut to their plate this week?

Last week, Claire Lai attended the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
In a moving speech, she shared her hope that—with God’s help and continued support from @POTUS and the U.S. government—her father, #JimmyLai, will be freed.

China wants in. Governor Abbott is keeping them out.
Texas banned Chinese-linked tech from state systems. Texas banned hostile foreign nations from buying our land. Now Texas is protecting your medical data too.
Communist China has no place in Texas.

Before great things happen, there are quiet yeses. Daily choices. Small acts of trust. Lent is filled with these moments, opportunities to respond to God with openness and faith. The Militia of the Immaculata exists to form people who do not overlook these moments, but embrace them, knowing that every yes draws the soul closer to Christ.
Small yeses lead to greater ones.
Our Lady, prepare my heart to say yes today. Help me respond with trust, act with faith, and follow your Son with sincerity. Form my life into a faithful response to God’s will. Amen.
If you are ready to live your faith with intention and trust, consecrate yourself and walk with the Militia of the Immaculata.
