Ken getting nominated and not Barbie is honestly so fitting for a film about a man discovering the power of patriarchy in the Real World.

I can feel myself slipping back to depression. My fam isn't speaking, I ended a bad situationship + a close friend ghosted, all while I'm starting a biz. So, I'm trying something. It’s called Life Force, a tool from Dr. Phil Stutz. Lemme walk you thru it - tap “show more” ➡️ You may recognize the Stutz name. He's Jonah Hill's therapist & subject of a Netflix documentary. Big on actionable tools for his patients. Jonah Hill said "[life force] was such an immediate thing that can change your life and something that I think anyone can easily latch on to. It was the first step for me and beginning the process of getting better.” Life Force consists of 3 levels: your relationship with your body, with people, and with yourself. He visualizes it as that pyramid I drew up. LEVEL 1: BODY Stutz says "All you gotta do is get your body working better, and it always works. The most classic thing is they’re not exercising. Diet is another one, and they’re not sleeping." He goes as far to say you'll feel 85% better just taking care of those three things. I believe it. I spiral so hard when I'm not sleeping, or missing workouts, or tossing Taco Bell in my body. They’ll compound, too, especially when tequila soda’s involved. Here’s how I’m gonna tackle Stutz’s body suggestions: Exercise: I’m re-hiring my trainer from LA for FaceTime sessions from the gym. 3x a week + my basketball/kickball leagues = daily exercise that’s actually enjoyable. Sleep: setting a regular bedtime with reminders in Google Cal. Gonna play with sleep supplements like tea, melatonin, CBD, and THC. Eye mask + hooded shirt every night. Diet: there’s a new Whole Foods literally across the street from my apartment. Grabbing an $8 rotisserie chicken is not only healthier, but cheaper than Chipotle or sweetgreen or whatever other snack I'd buy. More simple meals like chicken, veggies, and rice. LEVEL 2: PEOPLE Stutz says “The key of it is you have to take the initiative. If you’re waiting for them to take the initiative, you don’t understand. You could invite somebody out to lunch that you don’t find interesting, it doesn’t matter, it will affect you anyway in a positive way. That person represents the whole human race, symbolically.” For friends, I wrote names of people who I want to invest more time in. I’m using iPhone’s pinned messages feature to remind me who to prioritize. I’m writing lists of New York events that aren’t just drinking, then inviting those folks along. I just joined a men's professional group—buncha guys in their mid-30s with various tech expertise, also all looking for better male friendships. Never tried something like this before—will report back. That’s also a reason I started my pick my brain initiative, where I talk to a young pro about whatever they like for 30 min every day in Feb. Gives me some purpose, allows me to give back and really help people. Gonna continue that. LEVEL 3: YOURSELF Stutz really pushes writing & journaling. “It’s really a magical thing. It reflects what’s going on in your unconscious, and things will come out if you write in journal form that you didn’t know that you knew.” I started morning pages a month ago and couldn’t believe the results. 3 pages, writing whatever you want, and you can’t pick up the pen til you’re finished. You might’ve seen it in The Sound Of Metal, one of my fav movies. Of course, I dropped the habit & have struggled to process since. I’m going back to it, along with the 5 minute journal (a gratitude format). You can give both a google to see how they work. IN SUMMATION I'll just let Stutz take it away. “If you’re lost, don’t try to figure it out. Let it go and work on your life force first." "It’s about passion. Increasing your life force so you can find out what you’re really passionate about. But step one is to be passionate about connecting to your own life force, and anyone can do that. Everything else will fall into place.”

If you’re a politician or media figure who sets up the LGBTQ community to be hated and feared - not because any of us ever harmed you but because you find it useful - then don’t you dare act surprised when this kind of violence follows. Don’t you dare act surprised.

One thing that keeps me up at night right now is the possibility that Twitter’s potential death spiral will coincide with a major regional/national/global crisis. For better or worse, Twitter is a crucial disaster comms tool, and we don’t have a replacement for it. 1/

Please help me with a word. The word that means a hopeless sense that everything is going to shit. Less of a focus on the hopelessness, and more on the "I think the only way things can go is the end of the world" It's what I think Fatalism should mean, but doesn't.

A white family claims they were racially discriminated against while adopting a Native child in the Supreme Court case Haaland v. Brackeen. Cherokee writer @rebeccanagle calls it a right-wing "coordinated litigation campaign" to strike down laws protecting Native sovereignty.
