3D genome architecture underlies health & disease, but its biochemical basis is hard to study at scale. We present Plate-C: a screening platform that profiles thousands of whole-genome 3D maps in a day ($4 each), discovering many pathways that rewire DNA: biorxiv.org/content/10.648…

How can we learn tissue mechanics directly from patterns and images? In our new preprint, we introduce VertAX, a differentiable vertex-model framework in JAX for simulating epithelia, inferring parameters, and designing target tissue behaviors. shorturl.at/PUzT0 1/5

"As most of us learn in primary school, a key reason authors cite relevant prior work is to help establish support for claims they make. If we don’t necessarily require that those references link to real research, then what are we even doing? "
Andrew Gelman et al.@StatModeling

Machine learning research is not serious research and therefore hallucinated references are not necessarily a big deal, agrees a prestigious group of machine learning researchers statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2026/01/26/mac…

@MariaPAlcolea @naturemethods Thank you! It is one of our first last author papers from my group :) so it's a very special one. It's been quite a process and we're already thinking of how to improve the pipeline and make it useful to developmental contexts. Happy to chat!

So proud of @Dr_KatieM and @cam_park for showing the power of combining innovative #ML with what we call "Katie Intelligence" (our domain expert in the loop) for building impactful computational tools and applying them to obtain unexpected clinical insight!
Columbia Engineering@CUSEAS

In a paper published today in Science Immunology, a research team led by @columbiaBME @elhamazizi has identified a specific population of immune cells that play a critical role in the successful treatment of relapsed acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The work, in collaboration with @Cancer_dynamics and the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, leverages the team's innovative DIISCO approach, a machine-learning method used to analyze how cell interactions change over time with a focus on cancer and immune cells profiled in clinical specimens.
