Jensen claim - "I Produce The Lowest Cost Tokens In The World" Sure, Jensen... Sure. But how about if you disclosed the energy-delay product for each of your architectures, preferably from Volta to Rubin? This is a real figure of merit that I would like to have full access to.

@peeleraja Nah. Engineering is the funnel. Intelligence + work ethic go in large numbers for job prospects. After proving themselves, the creative minds then branch out. It is not the training, but stability offered and self selection that helps the engineers.

India's top writers today are Sudha Murty, Chetan Bhagat and Arundhati Roy. All are engineers by training (Arundhati Roy studied architecture and town planning in college). Our top non-nepo actors are Kartik Aaryan, Taapsee Pannu and Jeetendra Kumar. Again all engineers. Top standup comics? Samay Raina, Varun Grover, Prashasti Singh and Rahul Dua. Again all engineers. In India, an engineering mindset is the best way to attain success in the arts. Proud to be an engineer!

Power without moral constraint is dangerous. Moral conviction without the capacity to act amounts to impotence.

If you know that adhering to your principles will enable a greater harm, is responsibility borne by the one who refuses to compromise and lets the worse outcome happen, or the one who chooses the lesser evil and violates their principles? #moralconundrum

@dwarkesh_sp It's way easier to stand up a cloud than to design a chip. Makes no sense AWS and Azure make the kind of money they do.

I asked Jensen, why don't you just become a hyperscaler yourself (rather than funding different neoclouds)?

idk if its good or bad for his career, but Dwarkesh’s willingness to challenge powerful people on his pod is certainly commendable.

Everyone goes into their first lawsuit like "Dude it's going to be so epic, I'm gonna fucking facts and logic them in front of a jury of my peers" Then three years later they get the call from their lawyer like Congratulations!! We have convinced a group of mentally retarded DMV workers that you were mostly in the right! After legal expenses and court fees, your winnings amount to *checks notes* Negative ten million dollars!

Saving culture kills everything interesting. Nobody takes risks. Nobody innovates. Everyone just buys land and gold and seek rent. No one spends on good and services. Businesses suck. Life sucks. But, on paper everyone is rich. Art and culture die first because people don't want to pay for frivolous things. Even love takes a hit because dates and relationships cost money and effort. Zero interest rate culture also breaks things, but in the opposite way. Money is free, so suddenly every terrible idea gets funded. Companies that should not exist refuse to die. You need the culture to see-saw over time.

"Healthcare is a basic right." No, it isn't. Healthcare is a service. These leftist-infested organizations (truth be told, they are actually powerless) keep pushing this kind of propaganda to serve their preferred clientele (aka lazy bums). Health services are a trade. And like any other trade, providers should be able to set their prices, and customers can decide whether to pay them. Their entitlement doesn’t stop there. There’s this growing arrogance that doctors should just hand over their knowledge to anyone whomever is willing to learn. Every serious field has trade secrets, guarded techniques, and hard-earned intuition. Medicine is no different, nor should it be. Just because some administrative class rubber-stamps admissions doesn’t mean the underlying knowledge suddenly becomes a public utility. Training, discipline, and standards exist for a reason. What is happening here is that these organizations are hoping that repeating a moral claim often enough will result in people stopping questioning it.
European Commission@EU_Commission

Healthcare is a basic right. Not a privilege. Not a luxury. This World Health Day, we stand for access, protection, and care for all.

Universities discovered the perfect racket in the 1980s: convince bright kids they need PhDs to succeed, then extract 6-8 years of $15/hour teaching labor from them. Stanford graduates 180 PhDs per year but hires maybe 12 new professors. The math doesn't work -- and that's the point. You subsidize this machine every time you pay tuition or taxes. Universities expand PhD programs not because the economy needs more doctors of Medieval Literature, but because they need warm bodies to teach Intro to Everything while tenured professors "research" (write papers nobody reads). The artificial scarcity of tenure-track positions keeps desperate graduates working for peanuts well into their 30s. Classic monopsony power -- one buyer, many sellers, wages below market rate.

Why Socialism Doesn't Work, Explained for a 10-Year-Old. You're in a class of 30 students. One kid works like crazy and gets an 18 average. Another does nothing and gets a 4. The teacher decides it's unfair and gives everyone the class average: 11. The one who had 18 stops working. Why bother if it changes nothing? The one who had 4 keeps doing nothing. Why work if you're handed 11 for free? The next year the class average is 7. Then 5. Then 3. The teacher doesn't get it. He thinks the problem is that the students aren't supportive enough of each other. So he starts punishing those who don't put in enough effort. He monitors everyone. He decides who studies what. He bans switching classes. That's exactly what happened. Every time. In every country. No exceptions. USSR, China, Cuba, Venezuela, North Korea, Cambodia, Ethiopia, East Germany. 40 attempts. Same result. Every time. Socialism punishes those who produce and rewards those who don't. Everyone ends up producing nothing. And when no one's producing anymore, the government uses force to make people work. It's not an accident. It's the design. - @brivael

There is literally $500 billion in Medicaid fraud, daycare fraud, SNAP fraud, autism fraud, hospice fraud and more. She never wants to reduce the fraud in federal programs. She always wants more taxes. Why won’t she go after the fraud to fund her insulin and free school lunches?
