The first openly gay chairman of the DC police union has been arrested on child sex crimes.
Lt. Matthew Mahl, a 23-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department, was arrested in an undercover sting after allegedly soliciting explicit images from and arranging to meet what he believed was a 15-year-old boy.
MPD has placed him on administrative leave and revoked his police powers.

Homeless people are using dogs to test drugs for them on Skid Row in Los Angeles, California.
Non-profit group Starts With One Today says dogs are being abused, thrown away, sold for drugs, neglected, and fed drugs to make sure there is no fentanyl.
Animal advocates are ripping Mayor Karen Bass and other elected officials for not taking enough action.
“We’re coming out here, risking our lives to help these dogs with no support from the government,” said volunteer Joey Tuccio.

Removing TPS status for Haitians living in the United States would cost 350,000 workers their ability to work at a time when we’re already facing serious workforce shortages. I’ve heard from healthcare providers and business leaders across Nebraska, including @OmahaChamber, who are concerned about the impact this would have on patient care and our economy. I don’t see the goodness of deporting people who are here legally, working, and contributing to our country.

This is not just the correct response but politically smart. Love him or despise him, Trump, in his instinctual way, has a habit of exposing hypocrisy and trite religious sloganeering for what it is.
In the face of the kind of brutality the IRCG represents, rhetoric about unity and peace is obviously empty.
