GLP-1 drives weight loss, weight loss lowers breast density, and lower density makes mammograms more sensitive. some of that signal could be easier detection rather than fewer true cancers, and the two pull in opposite directions. second, the assumed mechanism is adiposity. fat tissue makes estrogen through aromatase, and estrogen feeds hormone-receptor-positive tumors. if that is the pathway, the protection should land almost entirely in ER-positive, postmenopausal disease. an effect not broken out by receptor subtype leaves the mechanism open. that is the cut I would want before anyone calls it prevention.
