@cchildersmd @AmCollSurgeons One of the problems is that time is taken into consideration. So if you are a slow surgeon you are more likely to be rewarded with a 22 modifier.

@AnnalsofSurgery And Illinois has limited access to surgical care for pediatric patients (under 14) to ambulatory cases only unless there is a pediatrician on call. Not only limits access but is disrespectful of the Family Practice physicians.

For selected pediatric patients, rural critical access hospitals may represent an opportunity to expand access to timely surgical care closer to home, particularly for older, medically uncomplicated children. journals.lww.com/annalsofsurger…
