Pretty evident. We’re still a big space team with big space players, when I watched his Boro they were a suffocation team, maximum width, counter press everything. It’s been clear from the start the zonal low block has been to maximise the quality within the current setup.

From everything I’ve heard from the players, Carrick strikes me as a Carlo type of manger, someone who’s willing to let the players play with simple key details within his messaging. Question is, how far with that level get us/any team in the long run? I will say though, it’s the type of management a team like United has needed, someone who’s not emotionally reactive to every move and decision, he’s steady & calm. So similar to him as a player. There are questions about his style that I’ll 100% debate about but he empowers & galvanises a lot of players with calmness. Can be good & bad in moments don’t get me wrong.

Pochettino’s perception in England after the Chelsea stint suffered but personally I’m a big fan of his. Such an intelligent man when it comes to football and coaching. Think his managerial stocks should be higher than they are. Great manager, liked The Overlap interview.

@Ellis_ I was in San Sebastian today and had a long walk by the beach, a beer and 3 pintchos with Sun and a nice sea breeze. Arguably, a better place.

Been thinking about what manager I want at Man United permanently next season long and hard for a few weeks now and I still don’t have a clue who I’d like it to be.

Yep, we’re going to have to deal with this tradeoff for the last four games. We’re playing more zonal in the high press & the mid block, mostly to protect the centre and open up bigger spaces off the ball to attack (which all the attackers suit better). He’s adapting to the players qualities a touch to extract that extra 15/20%. Long-term, it’ll be more of a concern and I think the coaches will all know that regardless or not if Carrick gets the job but I think the best thing is that; we’re in UCL next season, morale is high, we’re in a position of strength, the squad seems to have a nice feel to it. The foundations have been laid. Next steps come in that out of possession approach, building the squad for UCL football and most importantly of all, identifying the best players for our needs this summer. This has to be where the focus goes, even over the coach for me. Give the coach the tools. I’m buzzing with the job Carrick’s done, to be honest. Textbook caretaker job.
