The real reason I picked writing as a career: Most careers have ~30 year time horizons or less. Doesn't matter the field, but it's very rare to see a CEO over the age of 65. But I can write until I'm dead. That's an extra ~20 years of mastery!

Perfectionism is one trait which will stand between you and success. I have been massively guilty in the past of “waiting until I’m ready”. You are never ready. You need to jump.

Nobody tells you this, but most risks go nowhere. I failed over and over. But one good risk paid for them all. Most people quit before they see it. Stick around long enough and your one shot will show up when you least expect it.
