BREAKING: Racist @PeteHegseth gets caught blocking promotions of women and Black officers so he can have an all-white military! Secretary of War Crimes Pete Hegseth just delivered another blow to diversity in the military, personally blocking the promotions of nine Navy officers hand-picked by senior admirals with the obvious goal of reshaping the Navy’s leadership into a bro’s club that looks nothing like the force it commands. Three of the officers Hegseth removed were women and two were Black men, resulting in a new list of one-star admirals containing zero women and only two nonwhite officers, even though women make up 21 percent of the active-duty Navy and racial minorities make up 38 percent. Hegseth clearly has a narrow, outdated, sexist, and racist vision of how the military should look. According to Pentagon rules, the Defense Secretary is only supposed to remove officers for serious moral, mental, physical, or professional failings. Hegseth appears to be targeting officers simply because they participated in diversity efforts years or even decades ago. Hegseth has already fired or sidelined nearly three dozen senior officers, nearly 60 percent of whom were women or Black, including the first female Navy chief and the second Black Joint Chiefs chairman. Hegseth and company often speak of “merit ” while they appear to be actively purging highly qualified female pilots, physicians, nuclear-trained officers, and leaders with stellar records. Meanwhile, he reportedly tried to push through Capt. William Francis Jr., a Navy SEAL who was passed over by formal promotion boards but worked as his assistant. Trump’s “restoring the military” under Hegeseth’s aegis is actually racist and sexist punishment of women and minorities for the crime of existing and excelling, and replacing merit with ideological loyalty tests. In the Trump era, every woman and minority cannot help but get the message that their hard work and talent may not matter if they want to advance in your career.
