@Liv_Boeree Howdy from the other side of Texas!
I started an astro tourism company in Big Bend and would love to have you as a guest speaker. I think you would enjoy the dark skies and the general vibe of Terlingua.
Great work with all the awesomeness you've been up to!

@JWDeChant @rsbenn @AlZeidenfeld @RandPaul Took years for my Texas ID.
Biggest hurdle was proof of residence because I bought dirt. They wouldn't accept my 911 address assignment document because it was > 1 year old. They didn't care that addresses only get that document once.
English

@rsbenn @AlZeidenfeld @RandPaul Depends do you have ready access to your birth certificate, did you receive a birth certificate (I know many who do not due to living in rural areas), dos your name on your drivers license match your birth certificate (hope you’re not a married woman).
English

@MaxQApp @Dillonshrop06 Do y'all think this will be visible from Big Bend or is it too southwesterly?
English

🪼 JELLYFISH ALERT 🪼
MaxQ is tracking the possibility of a twilight "Jellyfish" effect tonight if the current T-0 holds for the @Starlink 17-24 Mission from @SLDelta30 .
This mission will see @SpaceX use Booster 1088 flying for its 14th time after a 37 day turnaround. This booster previously supported:
- 9 Starlink Missions
-NROL-126 & Starlink
-NROL-57
-SPHEREx & PUNCH
-Transporter 12
OCISLY and GO Beyond will be the recovery team and will attempt recovery of 1088 and both fairing halves.
Stay up to date with the possibility of seeing a jellyfish effect at maxq.app/tools/jellyfish

@ThirdTimeIan Yea I noticed that same trend recently too. Refuses to stop for me also.
I've heard that Claude is the way to go these days?

@ICuRaRook Aye. It's too good of a squeeze spot. If I'm villain I'm stoked to rip any suited ace, KQ, and pairs. Perhaps that actually makes shoving better for ICM. I dunno.
English

@devopoker Not a bad plan at all. I got excited and wanted to establish dominance in this micro.
English

@ICuRaRook I want to make it 9bb to induce, esp given 50% VPIP.

@yupimchaz @DachshundColin Also the name of the.. Austrian archduke whacked by ... Somebody? In 1914 to start WWI?
English

@DachshundColin I hate that half of the likes are likely people who don’t know history enough to realize how good this tweet actually is

@JohnnyBaxPoker @BeL0WaB0Ve Those Noodles last shorter bets were amazing.

This is excellent commentary and visuals from my friend about the fight of our life.
A wall through Big Bend will not do anything functional. Instead it will waste a ton of money with it's estimated cost of $25 million per mile and ruin the place I call home.
Laiken Jordahl@LaikenJordahl
THIS IS NOT A DRILL. Border walls are closing in on Big Bend National Park — threatening to block access to the Rio Grande, destroy historic hot springs, and permanently alter the most sacred place in Texas. @sammiecarrots reports from the border:
English

@ViperFergy @jaybsauceda Agreed.
But spending $40 billion on a wall through two public parks where people don't cross is a gross waste of money and landscape.
English

@devopoker @jaybsauceda Migrant visas, legal immigration, all good. Illegal crossings, not good.

I’ve spent a significant amount of time in the Big Bend region.
The most striking thing about the border wall debate is the bi-partisan uproar against it.
Locals are befuddled by the lack of warning and law enforcement are adamant that it’s an unnecessary expense.
As Terrell County Sheriff @SheriffThad put it, the terrain itself is a God-given barrier.
Spend any time there at all and you’ll understand why. It’s an unforgiving, desolate, yet remarkably beautiful region.
The numbers don’t pencil out for a need and the wall is a solution in search of a problem.
Let’s not destroy one of the most beautiful parks unnecessarily. Let’s not destroy a local tourism economy. Let’s treat Big Bend like the sacred land it is.
My colleague @Forrest4Trees covered the backlash to the plan here: texasmonthly.com/news-politics/…

English

@maroonish99 @jaybsauceda @johnoeffinger75 They did not. Perhaps they voted for Trump, but no local supports a physical wall.
English

@OleBeezer @jaybsauceda No there isn't.
100.00% of locals would disagree with you and this county voted red last election.
I have spent tens of thousands of hours and slept hundreds of nights on the border and never experienced anything unmentionable.
English

@jaybsauceda You’re full of shit. There are many witnesses to the trains of people coming across.
English

@ViperFergy @jaybsauceda They come here for jobs that we aren't willing to do.
English

@jaybsauceda Big Bend is beautiful. I've been there many times. As for a wall, you don't need one if we stop giving those who cross free stuff—jobs, housing, benefits, bank accounts, check-cashing services, nothing. Stop giving them free stuff, and they won't want to come in the first place.

Not even a majority of Texas Republicans want a border wall through Big Bend, my guy.
It's also just a dumb idea. Aside from being an incredible place of natural beauty, Big Bend is a natural border wall. You cannot build a wall that is harder to scale than those mountains.
David Marcus@BlueBoxDave
Who is the intended audience for this? Anti border wall outdoorsmen in Texas?
English

@Fongistan @jamestalarico The park is over 800,000 acres and includes over 100 miles of the Rio Grande.
Wherever the wall is built, it will make Texas smaller and prevent Americans' access to the river.
English

@devopoker @jamestalarico Rivers have a bank. Looks to me that Big Bend National Park is quite a distance away from the Rio Grande.
English

@PhilipHallole8 @jamestalarico I'm not sure exactly where that photo is, but it's certainly not along the river. Everything is scenic and remote out here.
English

@devopoker @jamestalarico Is that picture on the border or did he pick a scenic picture from somewhere else in the park?
