@dimittenobis @elizabethgamm2 @ShaneSchaetzel The Pope has the absolute right to judge matters temporal and spiritual. Gaudium et Spes makes this clear. The Pope has access to all top governments and dignitaries and can correspond for information. He can also derive information from all the Diocese of the world.

For the record, I don't believe Trump hates Catholics, nor do I believe he is anti-Catholic, nor do I believe there is anything anti-Catholic about the Trump Administration. I believe quite the opposite, actually, as Trump has awarded many Administration positions to Catholics. He also started his religious liberty board specifically to undo the anti-Catholicism found in the Biden Administration's FBI that investigated Catholics as potential terrorists for chanting in Latin. What Trump did with Pope Leo XIV last night was not anti-Catholic. No. It was stupid and pompous. It showed a weakness in his character that revealed a desire to destroy anyone who criticizes him, even the pope, who does so for legitimate reasons related to Catholic teaching on Just War. And Trump wasn't the only one targeted by this. The pope challenged ALL world leaders to step back and reconsider their course of action. I am no stranger to papal criticism. I fiercely criticized Pope Francis myself, and each time it was related to his compromise on Catholic teaching, and his petty attacks on faithful Catholics (who chant in Latin by the way). However, I generally refrained from criticizing the pope's politics, especially if they were in line with Church teaching, even if I disagreed with how he applied it. Donald Trump was not the first world leader to be criticized by the pope, and he won't be the last. He should know this, and he should have risen above it. Instead he chose to attack the pope, and in doing so he insulted every Catholic on earth, most especially those American Catholics in his political base. Many of us feel backstabbed by this, and we're not going to tolerate it, not from him or anyone else.

There: I just prayed a Rosary for Pope and President that they may be able to secure peace in the Middle East. Problem solved. Now to watch hockey.

I have just ended my subscription to Truth Social and Truth+ (Donald Trump's media platforms). I have also placed sell orders for my stocks and mutual funds related to Donald Trump. I am totally divesting from Trump, and everything associated with him. I will close my Truth Social account at the end of the month. As I said, if he apologizes, then I will forgive him, but my financial decisions are final, effective immediately. As promised, I am moving on from Donald J. Trump. I will henceforth work on rebuilding the Catholic-Evangelical alliance in the Republican Party without him and his family. The title of my upcoming book will be announced shortly.

I have a dreadful feeling that most of Iran and southern Lebanon will soon be leveled. Why? I believe the peace talks in Pakistan will fail, not because of Vance, but in spite of him. He will be reasonable. Iran will not be. That will lead to the breakdown of talks in Lebanon.

Catholicism is a religion about forgiveness. If Trump is sorry, and he expresses so, it is not my place to question it. He will get my forgiveness, and I’ll move on. But so far, no apology, and I don’t expect one. So, he no longer has my political support. For now, I’ve moved on without him. My goal now is working on restoring Christian patriotism to the Republican Party, and fixing the damage the he, and his family, has done to it.

This is Donald Trump’s tirade tonight on Truth Social. I’ve been very patient with The Don, and I’ve been very measured and balanced in the feud erupting between him and the pope. This, however, is too much. Donald J. Trump just lost my support. He won’t get it back until I see an apology for this, directed toward Catholic Americans and Pope Leo XIV. Thankfully, Donald Trump will not be running for office again in 2028. So I don’t need to worry about voting for him. Nobody does. However, if Republicans want to win elections ever again, they will need to distance themselves from Donald J. Trump. His name is now toxic to the Catholic vote, and Catholics make up at least 17% of the Republican Party.
