@HMRCcustomers Filled a return for HICB tax. Paid incorrect amount because that was the only way to not receive further fines. Trying to get it corrected... now HMRC think it's it owes me £3000.. it's laughable.

@dizzykicks Hi, I'm sorry we lost your call. Is it that you need to register to file the return. Help to file the return, or is it help to make the payment? Steve

Got hung up on whilst someone went to ask for help this morning... after 57 mins on the phone. Waiting in vain right now. Maybe I'll try tomorrow. 9th call... trying to sort SA from 23-24 to pay HICB tax. Ridiculous. @HMRCcustomers

@English_MrsB We also take different types of weather and develop descriptions of each. One of them will be useful in the summer exam.

Our Year 11 desperately need to improve their vocabulary before their English Language and Literature exams. How can we do this quickly, effectively and relatively pain free?! Drop your ideas below 👇 🙏

@English_MrsB With writing stimulus in front of them, we generate 8-10 words before we start writing. Verbs/adverbs/adjectives but also interesting imagery/phrases. There's a great website ... and io one that let's you put in an idea, eg. Eyes and generates phrases which we play with.

My mum recently died. I went out and got shit faced. Day after I had to go to the funeral home to organise her funeral. Was so hungover, I vomited all over the table on the coffin brochures. Staff were lovely. I cried. Got £200 off the total bill. Mum would have been proud.

HMRC hasn't charged a single company under the Criminal Finances Act 2017 enacted to crack down on corporate tax evasion. Since 2010 £450bn-£1,500bn tax not collected. Govt will snoop on the bank accounts of OAPs & benefit claimants. Not on tax dodgers. theguardian.com/politics/2024/…

@MissShakesparke Do they know the various perspectives they can discuss? Political, economical, social? I saw this somewhere once. I personally use this as sentence stems as well...

🌟Creative writing: sentence models🌟 Resources in the 🧵 I've been doing lots of sentence work. Last term, I tried to write with students every lesson, just trying to build writing muscles and expose them to lots of models Inspired by @ChrisYoules His book is fab! 1/11

A Thread on Handwriting… Over the past 2 years, I have paid more attention to the way handwriting is taught than at any other point in my career. Handwriting seemed a fairly simple thing that pupils would just pick up with a few lessons on letter formation. I was wrong! Here are some things I think about now that I didn’t always consider before…

I was just asked "I've recently received a high income benefit child benefit charge. I earn £53k my wife £12.5k. Yet I've read if we both earned £49k, we wouldn't have received the charge . How is that fair?" That's correct. Sadly the answer is simple. It isn't fair.

Too 4 dystopian short stories for Y9 please. My choice is ‘The Lottery’ by Shirley Jackson. Stories by wider range of voices particularly welcome. Thank you
