The part no one is mentioning Roblox is VERY predatory - 30% transaction fee on platform - Monetisation only payed in Robux (fluctuates in price) + minimum $1K withdrawal amount (very high ceiling for most creators) - Impossible for creators to export their work - System relies on child developers, selling them dreams of making millions of $ whilst only top 1% does - Creators only take home ~28% of total revenue after all costs including App Store fees

@MaximumADHD okay but like some of the newer luau-driven UI components are slow as shit. the settings cog above the top-right of the viewport has a ~0.5 second delay between clicking and opening, for example. progress should be a net positive, not a sacrificial trade between UI and UX.

I'm betting now there's going to be a bunch of jackasses who refuse to update Roblox Studio whenever Roblox removes the flag that disables the new UI, and they'll form some cult society where they share tips on how to keep their zombified build of Roblox Studio alive.

@MaximumADHD it's easy: don't use it. stylua is opinionated slop with no way to disable formatter options - they're all absolute. the fact ignore comments exist *because* you can't disable shit like this is exactly why i stopped using it forever ago. just write clean code the way you want.

@RoBuilderYT nah you aren't going to invalidate years of me painstakingly wireframing, implementing, programming, and animating pixel-perfect UI just because I didn't draw it illustrator first. you're confusing user INTERFACE designers with graphic artists. bad take, not hot 👎

Hot take: building and modeling are the same job. Don't look for commissions if you cant do both, same for UI if you cant make vectors and import it don't call yourself UI Designer.

@doctr_oof @VuukStudios I didn't hire him, my partner did. I had no choice but to accept it anyways, because we were in a rush with releasing the game (we still are). They all quit because the template we bought for a steal game had very messy code and even had 4 data modules in it, it was made with AI.

@sleitnick AI helps me a ton with math and complex data structures, but anything more feels like a diminishing return. At some point it's just faster to do it yourself than endlessly tweak prompts or debug shitcode.

Still not using AI in my coding workflow. I want to keep my mind engaged, and I worry letting AI take that process will lead to buggy code that I don't fully understand. I do not feel like I'm being left behind by choosing to not use it. I like to write it!

Why would I use Roblox's re-invention of the wheel when I can use robust, standardized, decades-long-battle-tested software instead that doesn't require a Roblox Studio installation to access? @ifcolethenslaw @pehq_ The Roblox script editor is dogshit when compared to nearly every third-party editor out right now. Many of the shortcuts, key macros, and snippets I use in VSC aren't even possible in studio - period. Don't even get me started on extensions.
