Since moving to Denver in 2020, the victim said he has come to love Denver’s downtown area and often disputes friends’ accounts of the area being dangerous. But now, the incident has shaken his confidence in the city he loves.
People have always told me, ‘Oh, downtown, it’s so dangerous.’ And I’m like, ‘Just go enjoy it,’ like it’s a safe place, there’s a lot of fun things going on.’ And then I get shot in the neck…And now it’s like, Do I even want to live in the city anymore?”

Just reflecting on how great it is to go to downtown Denver. Avs tonight, Nuggets on Friday and Sunday. Rox opening day. 63k for Soccer today. Endless bike paths. My oldest son has been downtown for four years. Love downtown Denver and only gonna get better with Burnham Yard. One of the best cities in America. Excited to be there again tomorrow.

SMFR & @dcsheriff are on scene of a small vegetation fire on Santa Fe just south of Highlands Ranch Pkwy. Fire is under control, no structures threatened, and no injuries. Santa Fe northbound is down to one lane. Fire held at approximately 100’x50’, cause of the fire is under investigation.
