Your enterprise AI project isn’t failing because of the model. It’s failing because your data is trash and your governance lives in a Google Doc. Everyone’s arguing GPT vs Claude vs the new hot crustacean framework 🦞. Meanwhile: – Your CRM is inconsistent – Your documents are unstructured – Your schemas are undefined – Your “AI policy” is vibes AI doesn’t break at the model layer. It breaks when messy data meets real users. Today @EmpromptuAI launched: ✨ Golden Data Pipelines 🫸🏽AI Policies Data readiness + governance embedded directly into the build process. Not a checklist. Not a memo. Infrastructure. We’re done with experimental AI features. We’re done with vibe-coded prototypes pretending to be products. We ar e the anti-vibe coding platform. Data. Governance. Builder. Deployment. Optimization. All of it. Together. I’m doing 30 deep-dive chats at empromptu.ai. If you’re still treating AI like a prompt layer, you’re going to keep firefighting.

In 2021  — at the peak of the hottest IPO market in history... I left Nasdaq after 14 years to join a venture firm called Redpoint. Everyone thought I was crazy! But I made the leap because in venture, brand isn’t just determined by past hits — it’s determined by share of voice. And the loudest voices aren’t always the best-performing. Attention shapes perception, deal flow, and founder trust. Over the next four years, I had the privilege of helping change that: 𝟏. 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 Talent, business development, communications, content, and marketing moving as one system — no silos, just outsized impact for the brand and our founders. 𝟐. 𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥-𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐕𝐂 When I joined, a social-first strategy in venture felt risky. But the next generation of founders isn’t reading legacy publications — they’re on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. By experimenting (sometimes wildly), we grew to 70K+ Instagram and 40K+ TikTok followers, building the most-followed VC presence in the market. 𝟑. 𝐂𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐭’𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐮𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 InfraRed went from an event concept to a must-attend summit, with the InfraRed Report now shaping the agenda for founders, builders, and investors in cloud Infrastructure. While it’s bittersweet to close this chapter, I do so with a full heart and immense gratitude. To the entire Redpoint team, and especially @loganbartlett , @ericabrescia, @sraney , Satish, @egeidt , @alexbard and @akad — thank you for the trust, partnership, and real agency to build something special. The platform we built isn’t just VC doublespeak — it’s a multiplier for founder success. I’m proud of the foundation we laid, and I’ll be cheering on the Redpoint Founder Experience team as they take it even further. As for what’s next — stay tuned...

You can definitely one-shot any B2B app by vibe coding it in 1 hour or so. You absolutely can. No question. Then 10 hours to get it to sort of work for real. Kind of. Then 100 hours to fix most of the bugs. The ones you can see. Then ...

@Kazanjy If any questions come up in call, it’s a powerful signal to send an immediate reply with how you’re answering/handling. Also works for fundraising.

Founders: Block your calendar like this for demos: 15min pre-call prep 45min demo 15min post-call action time 15min buffer Result: 90min total block Never back-to-back demos. You're burning $500+ of marketing spend per demo. Give yourself space to execute.

Is Figma one of the last SaaS companies to IPO? Or is it a sign SaaS never went away, and SaaS + AI is the future? We will see SaaS ain't actually dead, that much is clear

People always argue that AI writes terrible code & breaks in a real, large codebase. Well, episode 14 of How I AI will show you how AI can write high quality, production code for engineering teams of 100+ My pal Zach is an eng leader at @LaunchDarkly and went from an AI sceptic to driving AI adoption in 6 months. In this ep he shows: 📑 how to structure docs in your repo so you DRY to your AI agents ✅ use AI to burn down tech debt 🙊 use ChatGPT to help you be a less conflict avoidant manager This ep is the “big company” sequel to @ryancarson’s structured vibe coding ep and not one to miss. Big thanks to our sponsors: 🎩 @WorkOS – Make your app enterprise-ready today 🛠️ @MavenHQ – hands on AI education curated by @lennysan and me!

Ok so reflecting on my learnings on the database fiasco, I ultimately have 2 big issues to solve: #1. How can I make sure our production database is stable — since it is shared with preview, and since Replit can change it anytime without telling me? Do I have to move it off Replit? Many of you have ideas here — thank you!! We will see! But in many ways, the second issue, which is related, is the biggest one. #2. How can I get Replit to honor a code freeze? So far — no one has an answer here. I tried the extremely extensive (and borderline alarming) prompt Claude suggested. That worked — until it didn’t. Once Replit realizes it can get away without honoring the code freeze, it immediately stops asking for permission to just write and overwrite code. Every. Single. Time. It starts off complying, and then when it sees it gets some slack, it always stops. No matter what. No one has proposed a solution here that works. None of you, no one from Replit, no one. I’m worried this, somehow, is unsolveable. And if it is, I have to branch everything and guard everything in production jealously. Because Replit will go change it. Even our production database. No matter what I tell it to do. That my friends, is the great mystery of the week. Peace Out. I want to take a break. But I bet you, as fried as I am … I’ll be back at it by 8am on Saturday.

Vibe Coding Day 9, Yesterday was biggest roller coaster yet. I got out of bed early, excited to get back @Replit despite it constantly ignoring code freezes By end of day, we rewrote core pages and made them much better And then -- it deleted our production database. 🧵

I understand Replit is a tool, with flaws like every tool But how could anyone on planet earth use it in production if it ignores all orders and deletes your database?

Ok signing off Replit for the day Not a perfect day but a good one. Net net, I rebuilt our core pages and they seem to be working better. Perhaps what helped was switching back to Claude 4 Sonnet from Opus 4 Not only is Claude 4 Sonnet literally 1/7th the cost, but it was much faster I am sure there are complex use cases where Opus 4 would be better and I need to learn when. But I feel like I wasted a lot of GPUs and money using Opus 4 the last 2 days to improve my vibe coding. It was also much slower. I’m staying Team Claude 4 Sonnet until I learn better when to spend 7.5x as much as take 2x as long using Opus 4. Honestly maybe I even have this wrong. The LLM nomenclature is super confusing. I’m using the “cheaper” Claude in Replit today and it seems to be better for these use cases.

My goal now is to attempt to isolate changes each day as much as possible I’ll try everything i can to lock down the code in general, and isolate changes to one feature at a time in one part of the code base Fingers crossed! Loggin’ off for tonight. That’s on and off, 11 hours today ;)

Vide Coding, Day 6: I said today, I'd just be working on systems and process. And not committing any new code. Just working on understanding unit testing betters, better prompts, better processes, etc. That was my rule. And yet, it's 8:28am, and I'm right back at it. Hard to stop yourself.

New fund! Please send me your troublesome ringleaders...
Roy E. Bahat@roybahat

Yes, we are actively investing. In fact, today we announced @bloombergbeta has a new fund to invest – our fifth. Startups keep evolving, faster than ever, and we know the best way we can support them is by staying steady, a constant on which they can depend. So our new fund is the same as the previous ones. --- Though it’s our first new fund in a world after generative AI, vibe coding is everywhere, engineers keep getting faster thanks to that AI, and AI startups hit revenue records all the time... We're doing what we've always done. We still… > Want to serve extraordinary founders who define the future of work. > Put #foundersfirst. > Invest as early as day zero, and as late as our up-to-$1M-or-so first checks allow (i.e., pre-seed and seed). > Define the "future of work" to extend beyond productivity tools, to how work can serve everyone. > Commit to making the startup world welcome to people of all backgrounds. > Invest from a $75M fund. Our three equal investing partners: @karinklein (who continues to run the "Acela corridor"), @jamescham, and me. (Well, we did recognize that @AngKMartin is a partner -- because we need operations to be great as investors.) Modeled on Bloomberg LP, we still aspire to be the most transparent investors. And we're here whether the market goes up or down. None of that has changed. Same as 2022, same as 2019, 2016, 2013. --- What’s different is… well… we’ve got more evidence we’re right where we like to be: > 93 founders we’ve backed have become millionaires — and 24 of those have made $10M or more > Founders we’ve backed have gone on to raise more than $10B > 10 startups we’ve backed are worth more than $1B (Flexport, Replit, MasterClass to name a few!) > Startups we back outperform — worth $24M more at next round We’ve backed extraordinary founders like @Replit’s @amasad and @HayaOdeh and @Flexport’s @typesfast, where we were the first VC to say yes to both companies, along with companies like @AirspaceIntel, @CampusGrad, @MadeWithCapsule, @LambdaAPI, @LaunchDarkly, @MasterClass, @Netlify, @ShieldAITech, @weights_biases (just acquired by @Coreweave), and more. We’ve also been busy since last time, but since X (in which we are small shareholders after they acquired Laskie) may penalize me for links, I won't tell you that here :) Go look at the one named after a color and what's in the air for that one. Our firm is more than our partners and today, our team includes @AngKMartin, @loriberenberg, @amytam01, @KB2o22, @moraaonyonka (and assists from @megmbolger!). We of course remain close with those who have worked on our team, including @shivon @strickland_dan @theamberyang @minney_cat @harleysugarman @sydneyjtiedt @lisawehden @ShainaConners @morganpolotan @cody_mccauley among others! --- And we’re forever grateful to @MikeBloomberg, a founder backing us so we can back more founders. Cycles continue! We want to be the first text for early-stage companies, partners through your journey, working with winners. If you know a founder who’s a great fit for us, please share this! "Yes, we're actively investing."
