@TheDMVLive I live less than a block from there. Crashes happen due to cars hitting those concrete islands all the time. I’ve seen at least five cars totaled between the ones at G and H street. First time I’ve seen one flip though.

@mattyglesias Bingo. And as an ANC commissioner in a historic district, we also have to get approval from the Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB), which is far more contentious in my experience.

@TheRealBeliveau @LAppiah I’ve lived in DC for 25 yrs. The density and hardness of this storm was unmatched to any storms I’ve seen here. This storm definitely was unique. Not making excuses, but we rarely see storms this bad. It would be foolish to making massive cap investments in the equip needed

What was unique about this storm from your perspective? It seems to me this was not unique. In fact, the storm we got was less intense than they had originally anticipated. There is nothing unique about sleet or ice following a snowstorm, nor is there anything unique about low temperatures. All of those things were also accurately predicted by weather models and should have been incorporated into planning ahead of time. Did that not happen? Why? Do you agree this all could have been handled better with proper pre-planning? Why is it that the bobcats and construction-type/heavy equipment were not prepared ahead of time to be actively deployed as needed?

@LAppiah Like many things, this is a Rorschach test. If you hate Trump/ICE this is murder. If you support Trump/ICE “she had it coming … it’s her fault”. It’s a sad commentary on American politics

@Ubiquiti your RMA support is terrible. Bought a UDR7 for friends small office. Drops all wifi connections constantly. YOUR support told me to RMA the unit, but request was canceled because it’s “out of warranty” … it was bought two months ago.

@RyanSPowers People with diabetes use insulin too. It’s not always drug addicts dropping needles … although, I suspect it’s likely a large portion of the needles deposited.

@RyanSPowers There have been reports that MPD has been reclassifying crimes so they aren’t reported as a violent one’s. Murder rate is the best indicator since it’s difficult to hide a dead body.

Let me be clear: I-82 is not working for DC. Restaurants are closing, workers are earning less, and this initiative is making it harder for businesses to stay competitive in our region. We need to repeal I-82 and give our hospitality workers and industry a fair shot.

@DCCarViolence The race has to pay the city for MPD and DPW for the police and dump trucks. It’s the single biggest expense of putting the Classic on. So, tax payers aren’t footing the bill, other than indirectly via their race registration.
