We're on the verge of a scientific revolution — nearly everything we thought we knew about genes, bacteria, and viruses has been completely re-written in the last 30 years.
Basically the public-facing story of these professions is a vulgar lie but privately, amongst themselves, these scientists have discovered mind-boggling complexity that rewrites entire fields of knowledge. And the more we discover, the less we actually know about how things work (that's the catch).
Unfortunately, we cannot get to new breakthroughs that improve lives because Pharma has captured the political and regulatory process so they rig the rules to keep their iatrogenic business model going. Pharma also owns the media so they lie about everything and poison the public discourse.
And the reformers are too weak to challenge overwhelming corporate power. So Pharma keeps maiming and killing people for profit while massive paradigm shifts are just waiting for a champion to will them into being.
