Many reds are fine with self sacrifice when it has a tangible effect instead of a blind hail mary that has a good chance of dying completely in vain.

Red will not be able to pick the pieces of a broken world. They will self-preserve. They will not put themselves in harms way to defend another person. That society will fully collapse until humans cease to exist. If they couldn’t press a button to save the current society what would lead you to believe that they can finally come together for a purpose greater than their own?

@midyearmoth @ShitpostRock2 Helping each other out usually don't involve risking your life, and typically involves communication and tit for tat coordination. When it does involve life, there's usually a tangible threat that your risking you life can substatially have an effect on, not a 1/8 billion chance.

@matterasmachine Not equivalent. It stands to reason if everyone runs, the tiger would chase down and easily kill routed hunters. Not the same if everyone presses red. Not to mention this is clearly public, with the threat of ostracization later on keeping everyone in line.

Red button pressers: “you made up the tiger, it does not exist”. Often the same people: “if you sin, you will get into hell after death”.
