From 2027 Roblox is going to be taking a cut from all brand integrations inside games. Currently a brand can work directly with developers, meaning developers take the full fee, from 2027 Roblox will be charging developers for having brands inside their games.

@iGottic_Real Any clue on what Deep Play Through Rate actually is? Haven’t found anything on the dev forum yet and it hasn’t been added to the home recommendation page just yet. I’m guessing it’ll be similar to QPTR but with a longer minimum session?

Roblox is adding a new algorithm signal: Deep Play Through Rate. According to Roblox, this measures deeper interest and engagement with an experience, which should ideally make stylistically and mechanically unique games be recommended more. #RobloxDev

In our research lab, we are building “real-time dreaming” - the ability to generate fully playable video worlds prompted from any text or image. Our real-time, action conditioned world model (currently running internally at 16fps at 832x480p) is trained on a combination of data, including proprietary Roblox 3D avatar/world interaction data. World models are different from multiplayer engines in that they store state and memory in video latents. Roblox is multiplayer, and we are actively researching optimal ways to simultaneously store state for thousands of players, and keep them in sync with their environment. Our world model leverages database technology which stores all user interactions on Roblox in a vector format that can be used to re-render video and interaction from any camera angle. We see several immediate uses for our Roblox world model. We will use it side-by-side text, image and video prompts as a way to launch auto-generation of immersive worlds. In Roblox Studio, a creator could walk around and use prompts to “paint” a world and then convert it into a 3D representation or direct to Roblox native as a way for many people to play simultaneously. All of this comes alive as we explore the notion of a “Dream Theater” - where one user is dreaming, while others watch and prompt them. 2/4

@TopcatGG In 2018, every game would have “Follow on Twitter” rewards, and now, next to none do. The core audience just isn’t found here anymore, it’s almost exclusively on Discord, TikTok, and YouTube. Would really love to hear what that demographic of audience thinks of this change

@TopcatGG Super well spoken as always! It’s deceptively easy to forget that the algorithm is curated to do exactly this. Also, to add, I don’t know of a Roblox player who is under the age of 15, who isn’t a dev, that uses X anymore. It has really become an echo chamber of Roblox veterans!

🤯 Roblox REMOVES classic faces, UGC creators are going bankrupt, and artists are losing jobs! This is the main narrative around the recent Marketplace Policy for Heads update – and it's FALSE❗️ Most tweets and DevForum posts I've seen on this are highly misinterpreted and misleading, and I'd like to debunk them: Firstly, classic faces (including their value) aren't just disappearing – they're being migrated or updated, as you could say, into fully animatable dynamic heads while maintaining the same aesthetics. So, you're not losing your spent Robux or items. Moreover, you're getting a free upgrade. Secondly, UGC creators are given a time period to update their currently selling static faces and heads with dynamic heads. If this is done the same as with Shoes previously uploaded as Pants, sales traffic will be maintained after the items are updated. Thirdly, artists that built careers on drawing static faces will still be in demand, but instead of drawing for a plain static mesh texture, they will be required to draw over a more detailed animatable model. It's a small adjustment, but nothing critical that'd completely kill your skill. Why is Roblox doing this? From my perspective, static heads and classic faces have been a huge bottleneck for new innovative features like makeup, in-game facial animations, voice chat, etc. Though I do oppose a lot of Roblox's recent decisions and features, this is not one of them, and I think the community's reaction to it is way blown out of proportion.
