“Some of the most important voices to listen to are often those who aren’t in the room where it happens. They’re the ones who’re most likely to be harmed by the outcomes.” - @okeefekat @cbridgeinfo (below are some key considerations re. #accountability) (4/4)

“There needs to be top-down regulation but there also needs to be a space for community-based articulation of constantly evolving standards. #AI [...] technologies are fast moving realities which give rise to fast changing challenges.” - @SylvieDelacroix (3/4)

Still trying to wrap my head around the statistics Nora gave at the start re. the number of people appearing pro se in civil cases 🤯 Thank you to all the speakers for the great discussion - another amazing event as always @DanLinna! #A2J #legaltech #NLawCS

Because let’s face it - If the outcome is going to cause more harm than good, who does it serve really? Surely not the people, and definitely not the justice system. #aiethics #legaltech

Really appreciated this particular statement made by Judge Paul Grimm (DMD) re. the development of AI applications for use in the legal system - “The risk of an incorrect result is what you work backwards from.” Remember: Building AI applications begins with the end in mind.

Totally agree with @erikbryn ! AI is a tool created &used by people. The responsibilities are on each and all of us. Saying “AI does this or that” erases human agency, hence diverts the true responsibility to a tool. Human-centered AI starts with human-centered responsibilities.

“The most common question I get from audiences when I speak about AI is some version of: What will AI do to society? But this is not the right question to ask; it erases our agency,” says @erikbryn in his response to a forum exploring the future of AI. bit.ly/3oLuIxP
