A Young Earth Perspective on "The Story of Everything" I just watched The Story of Everything… and honestly, it’s really well done. It takes on ONE of the biggest questions in every culture. Where did everything come from? The film does a great job showing what more and more scientists are admitting: life doesn’t look like an accident and Evolution doesn’t look like the mechanism. The complexity of the cell. The information in DNA. The fine-tuning of the universe. “Random chance” just doesn’t cut it anymore. And I genuinely appreciate any film willing to say that. But here’s where I found myself a little frustrated… The film points to a designer, but stops short of asking the most important question: Who is that designer? Because if there is a creator, then we’re left with only a few options: 1. Did He create everything for no reason? 2. Did He create it for a reason but never tell us? 3. Or did He create it for a reason and reveal it to mankind? When you look at the intentionality in creation, it’s hard to believe this was all done… without purpose, or without communication. Creation points to God. But it doesn’t tell the whole story. That’s why this conversation can’t stop at design, it has to start with it! We must get to the truth. To what the Creator has actually said. So yes—go see the film. It’s worth it. But don’t stop there.

Another heartbreaking murder in South Africa, this time right next to a police station. 69-year-old Kallie Odendaal was changing a flat tire on Main Reef Road in Springs (just a stone’s throw from Langlaagte Police Station) early Thursday morning when he was ambushed. On the phone with his wife Moira, he begged his attackers to leave him alone, before she heard the gunshot that killed him. He managed to drive to a nearby petrol station, but died in hospital later that morning. Only his cellphone was stolen. This happened yesterday. Yet another elderly South African taken in a brutal, targeted attack. When @CyrilRamaphosa and @Julius_S_Malema tells their masses that Whites came to South Africa and plundered the country, stole "their" land, and "killed" their people, this is the result.

A 31-year-old primary school teacher with a doctorate was turned down for a senior position at the Western Cape Department of Education. Devastated but determined, he resigned, took his R240,000 severance package, and on a wet winter morning in July 1998, opened a small school in the vestry of a church in Durbanville. He had 28 learners and three friends helping him. That modest beginning became Curro — today South Africa’s largest private school network, with 189 schools and over 72,000 learners. It grew into a JSE-listed company valued at R7.2 billion. But the real story goes far beyond the numbers. Years later, Dr Chris van der Merwe reflected: “I can tell you without doubt that I never started Curro with the intention of making money. I wanted to serve the country by creating affordable private education.” He proved those words were genuine. In 2025, he played a central role in one of the most remarkable moves in South African education history: the Jannie Mouton Foundation acquired Curro for R7.2 billion, took the company private, and converted it into a public benefit organisation. The decision was supported by a 99.98% shareholder vote. Going forward, 100% of Curro’s surpluses will be reinvested into building more schools, providing bursaries, and expanding access for underprivileged learners. Not driven by profit, but by purpose. I think about this story often when working with families who are building wealth. Creating financial success is important, but the families that leave the most meaningful legacies are those who build for something greater than themselves — not merely to accumulate. What felt like a painful rejection in 1997 turned out to be the very door that led to everything that mattered. Sometimes the door that closes is the one that changes the entire direction of your life — for the better. Can you imagine that such an amazing man is not wanted by his country, simply because he is white?

Today I had a very constructive meeting with former President Jacob Zuma in Durban. We discussed issues such as the value of mother tongue education, the promotion of mutual recognition and respect between cultural communities, agricultural development in traditional communities, and Section 235 of the South African Constitution. More meetings will follow. As a civil society organisation @afriforum remains outside of party politics. We are working for the next generation rather than the next election. In securing a better future for the next generation, we are committed to engaging with all stakeholders in South Africa, even though we may differ on certain issues. We are committed to helping find solutions to the challenges the country and all its people face.

He accomplished two important things with this line of questioning: 1) He exposed abortion for what it really is, stripping away the euphemisms that hide its barbarity, and 2) he revealed that abortion's proponents are too embarrassed and uncomfortable to have the conversation without the euphemisms because it makes them look monstrous. In other words, they care more about how they're perceived than anything else, including the wellbeing of innocent, defenseless babies. So they are, in fact, monstrous — and terrible at hiding it. Very well done.
