Governor Jeff Landry of Louisiana issued an executive order suspending primary elections after the recent SCOTUS ruling. This is so the maps can be redrawn to disenfranchise the black voters. Pay attention folks…this is what Republicans are doing to cheat & rig the elections. 😡

The Court's conservative supermajority, in a 6-3 ruling authored by Justice Samuel Alito, effectively dismantled Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The decision in Louisiana v. Callais struck down Louisiana's majority-Black congressional district and rewrote the rules so that proving racial discrimination in redistricting now requires showing intentional discrimination. Justice Elena Kagan, in dissent, said the majority had rendered the law "all but a dead letter." The NAACP Legal Defense Fund called it "abominable" and warned that states could now "discriminate with impunity." Governor Jeff Landry moved to suspend the state's May 16 U.S. House primaries so Republicans can draw a new map that would likely eliminate one of the state's two Black-represented congressional districts. The kicker? Absentee voting had already begun. Early voting was set to start this weekend. Ballots have been mailed. People have voted. None of that mattered. Let's be clear about what we just watched happen. Trump posted on Truth Social thanking Landry for "moving so quickly," Florida Republicans passed a new gerrymander within an hour of the ruling, and Tennessee Republicans were already calling to redraw Memphis out of existence before the ink was dry. This is a five alarm fire and it is spreading fast. Democrats need to stop acting like this is a normal moment in a normal political cycle, because it is not. This is a coordinated, full speed assault on the right to vote, and every Democrat with a platform, a microphone, or a pulse needs to be in the streets, in the courts, and on the airwaves treating it exactly like the emergency it is. The playbook is right there in plain sight.
