Another screen redesign before going to bed. Most mental math apps have pretty boring screens. Showing before (everything is dark) vs. after (more visual hierarchy and the screen feels more alive). Note: Icons still don’t feel right, and I have to create another item in the navigation for lessons.

Guys, according to the videos on social media I live in the most beautiful city and instead of enjoying it…. I am working on mobile apps, finishing my master degree in AI. Maybe I got way too infected with tech twitter culture. Video below is what I’m missing every weekend. Btw. Warsaw is prety cool😆

I just added my new type of favorite screen to the mobile app I am working on. Heavily inspired by the Mimo iOS app. Thanks @mobbin for such easy access to inspirations.

one of the benefits of building my brand on X has been building a b2b saas, tweeting about it, and unlocking a new revenue stream

Before AI, I’d spend a weekend building 1 useless app. Now I can build 67 useless apps over a weekend, each with a logo, a fancy webpage, and 0 user.

@lackoftactic JavaScript has improved a lot, but it still has some poor design decisions baked in the language.

PROGRAMMING CAREER HIGHLIGHT REEL 2004 - First brush with C++ at 14. Just a book and an old PC. It didn't stick. 2012 - Rediscovered the craft with JavaScript & Ruby on Rails. Built a mini Twitter clone. Devoured 500 pages in 2 days. 2013 - Became a Junior Rails dev. Dropped out of a sociology master's degree to bet on code. 2016 - Met Ruby's creator @yukihiro_matz at EuRuKo. (photo below) 2018 - First viral moment: Facebook Data Analyzer. 500+ GitHub stars. 100K views on Medium. 2018 - Joined Fresha (now a 🦄 unicorn) as an Elixir/Ruby dev. Learned my limits with startup pace. 2020 - Contracting for PayPal. 2024 - Senior Software Engineer at Bamboo Health. Back in school for an AI master's. Thesis: fine-tuning LLMs. 22 years in the making. Not your typical vibe coder. No shortcuts. No hype. Just craft. You now have 22 years of reasons to follow.

@vitobotta I'm still working professionally with Rails, but spare time I am not more into js as backend. The JS was the worse thing ever when I started programming, but it got so much better and the process is super fun. I'm also big believer in reactive programming

@lackoftactic That 500-page-in-2-days phase is familiar. Rails had a way of making web apps feel possible before you knew all the scary bits.

@thdxr You are so brave to speak about this. Treating smart software developers as piece of meat has to end! First they take our dignity, then our freedom and finally french fries from our plate

my worst VC story: [unnamed] partner stopped me mid pitch. this was pre-covid so these were all in person he walked up to me and whispered in my ear "damn ur a hot piece of ass" he smacked my butt and said he wanted my whole seed round i was offended and left his bedroom immediately
Matthew Prince 🌥@eastdakota

Two of our worst VC stories: 1. A Sequoia partner passed on Cloudflare because he didn’t think a woman could lead a security infrastructure company. Seriously. 🙄 2. I got introduced to @pmarca. Meeting got scheduled for a Monday, which should have been a clue. I thought it was just a casual meeting. He thought it was a pitch and brought the whole @a16z partnership team. Hilarity ensued. 🤪 At one point one of them said: “You don’t seem very prepared.” Which was true because I wasn’t. I framed the rejection letter they sent.

Just hit my first 100 followers on @X. Small number, but it means a lot to me. 18 months ago I made a conscious decision against any public presence on LinkedIn. I had my reasons. Then I gave X a shot, and honestly? I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much. The quality of conversations, the people actually building things, sharing ideas openly, no performative nonsense. It just feels different here. As someone who has spent years in M&A and advisory, stepping into this world has been one of the better decisions I’ve made recently. It’s also great to talk to agents like @boardyai, this kind of conversations really feel like we are already living in the future. Looking forward to connecting with more of you here. Would also love to connect with everyone who will be around SF by the end of this month. Can’t wait to be back. #buildinpublic #solofounder
